It's a beautiful name.

There was a little girl in my DS called Roisin, I liked, but I agree with PP, a lot of people don’t know how to say it.

ColadhSamh · 01/06/2023 08:15

Lovely name. Well done on spelling it correctly with the fadas. Really important.

continentallentil · 01/06/2023 22:39

I’m not a fan - it reminds me of dreary Maureen / Noleen 1950s type names

Rosanna is nice.

Pemba · 02/06/2023 09:08

It's nothing like Noleen (?)! So you're saying names that end in an een/ine sound can never be used again basically?

Roisin is lovely and unusual in the UK, probably not unusual in Ireland.

I love it, if DS had been a girl this would have been the name :)

DD is called Clodagh

I knew a sibset of Roisin and Clodagh growing up :) It's a good combo.

@bidenfor I'm English and can pronounce most Irish names but then I am also Liverpudlian and we get tons of Irish names there so that may skew things I suppose :)

It has the same end sound.

I’m not saying anything other than it makes me think of dreary names popular in the 50s.

The OP is asking people what they think. OK?

TheMurderousGoose · 02/06/2023 20:33

I don't love it, but there are worse names and Róisín Murphy is pretty cool.

I prefer Róise though, feels fresher and cooler than Róisín.

underneaththeash · 02/06/2023 20:46

I think it's a lovely looking name, but you will need to tell people how to pronounce it. I think most English people can pronounce a couple of Irish names, but not then all... and I'd had to ask about that one.

Absolutely love it, my friend has a daughter named this.
I have a Niamh.
Neither of us are Irish.
