Leila
Lila
Lyla
Laila

I don't like Lilah or Lylah.

Which spelling is the prettiest and easiest?

I'd go for Lyla.
For me Leila and Laila would be lay-la and Lila would be lee-la.

DMIL had a friend whose name was Lailagh, pronounced Lyla.
I think that looks a bit ugly, though.

Lyla is the best spelling, I think.

Actually, it was spelt Leilagh.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 22/05/2023 08:57

Lila is the prettiest spelling but Lyla would be pronounced the same.

lordloveadog · 22/05/2023 09:15

Lyla

PossiblyNotOne · 22/05/2023 09:52

Lyla. It’s fairly popular so can’t imagine it will be a problem.

Luredbyapomegranate · 22/05/2023 20:23

Lyla

Lila is Lee-Luh I think

Leila/Leila is definitely Lay-luh

there are an AWFUL lot of these type of names about OP

olympicsrock · 22/05/2023 20:27

Lila is the ‘correct’ spelling in my opinion and looks best. Lyla would be pronounced as you want it to be too.

guineacup · 22/05/2023 20:31

Go the full Irish and Loabhriemn

TerrifiedandWorried · 22/05/2023 20:35

Ones I know are Lila, Lyla and Laylah.

user1492757084 · 23/05/2023 04:39

Lyla or Lila.

supersonicginandtonic · 23/05/2023 04:52

I have a lyla, never had it pronounced wrong.

mintich · 23/05/2023 06:23

Lila or Lyla

Lyla or Lila.

This

lavenderlou · 23/05/2023 06:40

I only know a Lila pronounced as Lee-la and Leila pronounced as Lay-la.

I know three pronounced the way you like. Two are Lyla and one is Lilah.

The Irish spelling would be Ladhla.

Saschka · 23/05/2023 14:30

SunnyFog · 23/05/2023 08:31

The Irish spelling would be Ladhla.

That is actually very pretty! Though would be mispronounced “ladder” in England.

MumsForPresident · 23/05/2023 16:29

Lyla definitely. The other 3 can be pronounced in different ways quite easily and Lyla just makes the most sense and is also the prettiest.

Widmerpool · 24/05/2023 21:37

Contrary to most PP I would pronounce both Leila and Laila as Ly-la. So personally I would choose one of those.

But I’m clearly in the minority.

FayCarew · 24/05/2023 22:14

I'd say Laila as Lyla too.
I'd pick a different name because there are so many similar names - Lila, Lyra, Lyla, Lily, Lilah, Delilah, Luna etc

Not keen on the Lyla spelling

DaysofHoney · 24/05/2023 22:16

Only Lyla leave no room for error!

JeandeServiette · 26/05/2023 13:42

breya · 21/05/2023 20:57

Lyla.

Leila and Laila are Lay-La.

This.

DiscoBeat · 26/05/2023 13:49

That list to me is:
Lay-la
Lee-la
Lie-la
Lay-la

MooseBreath · 26/05/2023 16:11

Lila or Lyla. I prefer the "i".

Leila and Laila would be pronounced "Layla" in my accent.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 26/05/2023 16:32

I know a lee-la spelt leila
