Julian is one of those names that just brings to mind a 'limp handshake' to me. (Malcolm does the same 🥴)

Alexander is a beautiful, strong name...so far removed from Julian, that I can't even imagine how the two are standing side by side on your list OP 😱

Alexander is a great name! Julian seems both pretentious and kind of wet (slightly influenced by the famous five here😬)

Thank you so much for the responses so far, quite amazed at how clear cut it's been! Super helpful! I'm Australian and Julian seems quite well liked there but live in the UK (& will raise our kids here) so really value your opinions! Thank you x

Well I love Julian but clearly I’m in the minority. Also love Julius.

Alexander is perfectly nice but there were so many in my kids’ classes over the years I just find it a bit blah.

Thanks @MissedItByThisMuch! Nice to hear another Aussie's thoughts on it! It's so interesting the associations people have with different names depending on their background, culture etc. I've never read the famous five but it seems to have tainted the name in the UK! xx

Oh I like Julian: love the ancient Roman vibe!

Alexander is a great name too though, I love all the Alexy names (I have an Alexandra) Ancient Greek vibe this time.. can't go wrong with it.
