Frances - a bit old-fashioned, IMO

Ruth - a 'strong' name, IMO

Martha - lovely

AdamAnt · 17/02/2008 20:42

I like them all, but particularly like Ruth

MiMao · 17/02/2008 20:42

I like Martha best

Sounds friendly, girlie and strong

Pollyanna · 17/02/2008 20:43

love Martha and Frances.
Not so keen on Ruth.

bossykate · 17/02/2008 20:43

frances is my favourite of those, but like them all.

Nemoandthefishes · 17/02/2008 20:43

Hulababy · 17/02/2008 20:44

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 17/02/2008 20:45

Leslaki · 17/02/2008 20:45

Rate them as Martha, Ruth, Frances.

Unfitmother · 17/02/2008 20:45

1 Ruth
2 Martha
3 Frances

Like them all though.

Chunkamatic · 17/02/2008 20:45

Our first baby is due this thursday and if its a DD it will be Martha, so you cant have that!!!!

Tortington · 17/02/2008 20:46

i love both ruth and martha - indeed, i toyed with Ruth myself.

these are 'strong' names to pull off i feel - and my reasoning for not using the name was ...if i have an ugly child - its a god awful ugly name.

kittywise · 17/02/2008 20:46

martha, frances, ruth ( don't like ruth)

Bluestocking · 17/02/2008 20:46

I like all of them. I have a slight preference for Frances, possibly because I loved Russell Hoban's Frances books so much as a child.

ivykaty44 · 17/02/2008 20:47

I like frances

janeite · 17/02/2008 20:48

All lovely but I especially like Martha.

TheFallenMadonna · 17/02/2008 20:48

I like them all. I love Frances.

janeite · 17/02/2008 20:49

Martha Frances very nice together methinks.

lovetIngles2 · 17/02/2008 20:50

Frances.. my lovely friend is frankie
Martha
Ruth
but I like them all

cushioncover · 17/02/2008 20:51

Thanks everyone. It doesn't sound like there's too much distaste for any of them, which is nice.

I really do like Martha. My one slight reservation is that there's no derivitive of it, unlike my other two DCs. Frances would be Fran and Ruth would be Ruthie.

I know a lovely young woman called Martha. We met on holiday a few years ago. She is beautiful, very funny, quite crazy - so for me it has to be MARTHA every time!
