Tessa, Theresa or Alice?

Next week is my due date. I am having a baby girl. Tessa, Theresa and Alice are my husband and my favourite names. What are your thoughts on these names? I quite like Tessa.

I prefer Teresa as a spelling, personally.

sashastuck · 27/04/2023 09:08

Tessa, adorable! Alice is so common. I know a little girl called Tessa and it’s just such a fun, cute name that works from baby all the way into adulthood!

Alice is great
Tessa is ok
I'm not a fan of Theresa

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/04/2023 09:44

Tessa is lovely and unexpected.

I like Alice but it seems to be having a bit of a moment so I'm getting over exposed to it which puts me off

Theresa doesn't feel ready for a come back yet. Same with Tara - it feels a bit 80s still

FayCarew · 27/04/2023 10:10

Alice is my favourite, but I'll suggest Tamara

salamithumbs · 27/04/2023 13:15

I'd go for Tessa, it's lovely and not too common! Alice is very popular and kind of overused. Theresa sounds a bit old and serious to me, possibly I'm just thinking of a nun who taught me in primary school, Sister Theresa...she was grim to say the least 🙈

Alice one hundred percent.

Cotswoldmama · 27/04/2023 14:30

Tessa, Theresa makese think of Theresa may and there are sooooo many Alices at the mo. Although I do think Alice is a lovely name.

shoopshoopdedoo · 27/04/2023 20:43

Love Alice, really like Tessa
Dislike Theresa and Tara

ourflagmeansdeath · 27/04/2023 21:39

Tessa I love it! Theresa is nice too but without the 'h' - I love Teresa. Alice is okay but it's a bland compared to the other 2. And then for Tara I actually do love this, it's very pretty. Think Tessa is my number 1 out of those though.

CakeRattleandRoll · 28/04/2023 17:30

Love Tessa. Beautiful name.

DappledThings · 28/04/2023 18:09

I would assume a Tessa was short for Theresa anyway

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 28/04/2023 18:18

I like just Tess.
Though I suppose it doesn't sound like a complete name.
Not as keen on Tessa or Theresa though.
Bit like Jessica. Love Jess but not as bothered about Jessica! 🤷‍♀️

bumblebeees · 28/04/2023 18:19

Alice

bumblebeees · 28/04/2023 18:20

Tara also a lovely name which u dont hear of much

abyssofwoah · 28/04/2023 18:25

Tessa or Theresa shortened to Tess. I wanted to call DD Tess (after Tess of the Durbervilles) but it didn’t work with our surname.

CurlewKate · 28/04/2023 18:50

I haven't read the thread so sorry if I'm repeating anyone. But I would go for Theresa shortened to Tessa. Maybe even Theresa Alice

Joolsin · 28/04/2023 19:01

Tessa by a mile, gorgeous name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/04/2023 19:13

Theresa is lovely and would be my pick - a classic that's very underused now and so starting to feel "fresh" again imo, with some nice nn's (Tess/Tessa obviously, but even cool "Tree"). Tessa as a given name I somehow find a bit bland personally - either go the full elegant Theresa or simple Tess for me.

Having said that, Alice is always a good un - one of those "play it safe" names, simple, internationally popular and quite timeless.

Tara is nice enough, but maybe slightly 90's feeling I think (and would always be "Tar -ah" in the UK). Lara and Zara, even Cara and Sara feel a bit more current (and Mara has never been widely used).
