(Italian heritage and surname involved)

Sofia - love this but so common in UK and Italy
Antonella
Chiara - I have reservations about pronunciation in the UK
Larisa - a Greek name, love how its pronounced in Southern Europe but not in English, would spend whole time correcting people

Any other ideas?

The popularity of Sofia would definitely put me off as well.

I really like Larissa, but if the pronunciation would bother you a lot perhaps it's not the one?

Sofia - love this but so common in UK ...especially if you include the Sophia spelling
Antonella - too long for me but it's quite nice. Lots of Ellas and -ella names
Chiara - pronunciation and spelling issues in the UK.
Larisa - Lar-eesa or Lar-issa?. Larissa spelling seems better

They are all lovely names. I’d be put off by the popularity of Sofia however it’s still nice!

salamithumbs · 23/04/2023 16:41

I think most people would pronounce it 'Larissa' so maybe avoid if that's not what you want? Love Chiara (and Sofia, but agree this is v popular at the minute.) Not really a fan of Antonella, sorry!

Chiara is my favourite but Sofia lovely too if you don’t mind the popularity

Lotzana · 23/04/2023 17:13

Thanks for your ideas! For Larisa I like the pronunciation Lar eessa rather than Lar-issa but don't think people will say it that way

Really like Arianna and Valentina too,

Likely to be pronounced like Luh-riss-ah in South England, can't speak for anywhere else.

Carina
Audriana is a faux-Latin name if that matters.

Nikkz · 23/04/2023 20:00

My middle child is named Sofia-Anne (double barrel). All the names are nice, but at the end of the day it's your choice :) good luck x

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/04/2023 20:03

I like Chiara - I don’t think the pronunciation is going to be a huge deal, not mad on Larissa (bit nothing), Antonella’s OK

I have a half Italian cousin called Lavinia?
Allegra
Cosima
Vivia
Cassia
Francesca (qu popular in UK right now)
Giovanna
Claudia (seems to be getting more popular)
Maria (ditto)
Vittoria
Alessandra
Teresa (nn Tessa)

Sofia is overused imo (but it is pretty)

I'm not keen on the others. I do think Chiara might get called Ciara and Larisa just isn't to my taste.

I really like Ariana and Emma which (I think?) work well in both languages

Yeah in UK most people would say Larissa not Lareesa but you can still correct them if you really love the name.

My favourite off your list is Chiara, it's very pretty! Sofia is a bit too popular yes and Antonella just isn't to my taste..

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 28/04/2023 13:26

I prefer Arianna and Valentina from your update.

GoodnightJude1 · 28/04/2023 13:28

I love Lucia and Valentina.

Sofia is beautiful, I considered it for my DD2 but there were far too many around and that was 15 years ago…seems as popular now!

I think English people would butcher chiara. Not just the Ch, but English people don't pronounce the R in the same way... the whole name rolls differently.

How about Anita, Adele, Angelica, Estella, Mia, Ginevra
