We are having a little girl and have struggled to choose a name

Would love your opinions on these:

Alice
Jessica
Isabel
Hannah
Emma

Thank you 😊

I like Emma. Alice becomes Al which isn't very nice on a girl.

ChickenSoupAndLokshen · 22/04/2023 14:06

All classic. All unremarkable. You could choose any one of them and you won’t go wrong.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/04/2023 14:16

Very safe, very classic (a teeny bit boring?) - I can’t object to any of them but don’t have a favourite as they are all much of a muchness. You can’t really go wrong with any of them.

Kickingupmerrybehaviour · 22/04/2023 14:17

All quite boring but ‘classic’ if you like that sort of thing.

difficultlemons · 22/04/2023 14:29

Thank you everyone - I appreciate the feedback. For those saying boring, do you have any other suggestions of more classic but less boring names?

Lovely list of names, all classic beautiful names. I had many on my list too, my favourites in order from most to least are;
Hannah
Alice
Isabelle
Emma
Jessica (only one I don't like tbh)

Londonlady1423 · 22/04/2023 15:38

Other classic names on our list were Rose, Lucy, Holly, Kate, Sarah, Clara, Abigail, Julia and Florence

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 22/04/2023 15:47

I love Emma. My second DD was going to be Emma but my ex husband changed his mind and she suited something else.
i like Alice. Not keen onJessica or Hannah.
There seems to be loads of Isabels, Isabelles, Isobels etc. I think it’s overused.

SpringTastic · 22/04/2023 15:49

Jessica!

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 22/04/2023 15:49

Love Julia. I like Florence and Kate too.

Twazique · 22/04/2023 19:34

Emma is lovely!

Anxietyrules247 · 22/04/2023 19:44

I have a Hannah.
I always wanted to be called Emma myself,
and one of my daughter's has Alice as a middle name.

schoolsoutforever · 22/04/2023 19:47

As with a million seventies born women, my name is Emma. It’s okay but honestly I would have liked a more interesting name growing up. I like Alice on your list (I’m a teacher and it was quite popular in early 2000s but I haven’t taught one for ages). I dislike Jessica, not sure why, very popular for teens to twenties and a bit too feminine for my taste. From the list, Alice is my pick but have you considered Anais?

cptartapp · 22/04/2023 20:12

All a bit boring.
Alissa or Alicia rather than Alice?
Louisa
Catherine

miniaturepixieonacid · 22/04/2023 20:28

All good, classic choices.

Alice - this is my least favourite but I like it.
Jessica - love it. Was/is top 10 for so long but I've never known loads.
Isabel - love it. Especially this spelling. Simpler and less common than Isabelle.
Hannah - love it. This is my favourite - possibly just because every Hannah I know is so lovely. Every one I know is an adult too (and I'm a teacher so know laods of kids). So I don't think it's that common now.
Emma - like it. Probably not a name I'd choose but that's just because I like so many other names more.

If you did want something more 'exciting' (I don't think names need to be exciting) then:
instead of Alice - Alicia, Alys, Ailsa, Alannah
instead of Jessica - Jessamy, Jerica, Jacinta, Jocasta
instead of Isabel - Isadora, Isolde, Ysabel, Ysanne
instead of Hannah - Harmony, Harriet
instead of Emma - Emmeline, Esma

shoopshoopdedoo · 22/04/2023 21:11

Lovely names! Alice and Emma are my favourites, and Isabel my least favourite.

ginlovingqueen · 22/04/2023 21:26

I really like Emma

difficultlemons · 22/04/2023 21:44

Thank you all so much! It's been so helpful honestly

I like all of them, with Emma being my favourite and Hannah my least. You really can't go wrong with any of them, tbh.

BevMarsh · 22/04/2023 21:49

Love Alice- timeless classic that suits all ages. I'd love to be an Alice.

mathanxiety · 22/04/2023 23:58

Love Jessica and Alice.

Twazique · 23/04/2023 09:07

Alice is the new Emma, in a few years schools will have loads of Alices and Emma will be a bit different.

Alice is the new Emma, in a few years schools will have loads of Alices and Emma will be a bit different

I'd say that came true at least a decade ago. Alice is not super popular but there are plenty of them. Emma's are very few and far between. In my area anyway. Although I think the rise of Emily was to blame for that, not Alice.

All lovely.
Do you like Johanna?
