What do you think of Roxana? If it matters, baby DD will have English and Arab heritage.

And next question…. Is it usable if I’m not a fan of Roxy as a Nn?

I like it but spelt Roxanna.

Not a fan but from a different background. I don't mind Roxy, it's simpler, less frilly, an instinctive nn for Roxana.

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/04/2023 12:33

I like it, I know one -

I think it’s hard to avoid Rox though, so if you don’t like that, find something else

I don't think it would necessarily be shortened! I know a Roxanne and nobody calls her Roxy.
I was going to suggest Anisa or Omima as I love them but don't often hear them but I see you don't want too many vowels! Maybe Maissane or Shirin? Or Rania, Samira, Malika..

salamithumbs · 23/04/2023 22:22

Or Yasmine?

I really like Roxana pronounced Rok-sarna

I imagine Roxy will be hard to avoid though, maybe Rox but some will still add a y

How about Samiha or Tahira?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 29/11/2023 15:12

What about Rosanna instead? Although you will have to like Rosie.

I think you can only avoid Roxy if you go by a different shortening instead straight from the start such as Xana but even then she may still choose Roxy later.

I’d forgotten about this thread!

Totally outing, but Miriam Roxana is now 7 months :)

I still love her name!
