What do you mean by uncommon OP? In 2021 in England and Wales Arlo was the 20th most popular name and Ezra was 51st. That would make both names very popular to me and both are still rising in popularity.

The Darkgreener site is a great resource for checking England and Wales name popularity and weather names are on an upward trend.

A really unusual name these days would be
David
Mark
Ian
John

Arlos are two a penny

But there are still way too many middle aged ones around!!

Give it another 20 years or so and they'll sound fresh and new again

Nigel
Richard
Gordon
Norman
Winston
Donald
Floyd
Duncan
Malcolm

Check the stats for Scotland for names like Cameron and Fraser. They may be very popular.

Check similar names for popularity. e.g. Theodore/Theo, Lucas/Luca, Orlando/Lando

Orlando is unusual, but Lando is on a very steep upward rise.

I know a little boy called Arlo, whose brother is called Hunter.

Mumofgirls2017 · 12/04/2023 16:44

Arlo and Ezra are pretty popular so I’d avoid those. How about

To be honest, though, those names aren’t particularly common now. I don’t know any child or teen called any of them.

Other than John, those are names that were popular over 20 years ago.

Is Enoch useable at this stage? I don't think I would.

@Goodoccasionallypoor , darkgreener says it's been used quite a few times each year
Babies called Enoch in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)

Interesting. It's a nice name but I assumed it was too distinctive to lose negative associations for a while yet. I suppose it has been almost 100 years!
