Now that we are long past the Game of Thrones days I feel like this name has longevity and it feels classically beautiful, like Iris or Elizabeth. Thoughts please

I like it (as in it's a perfectly nice name), but I wouldn't put it in the same box as Elizabeth.

Laurdo · 14/03/2023 09:27

I think it's a pretty name but still very popular.

I think Chloe is a beautiful classic name but 15/20 years ago it was super popular. Maybe Aria will be the same in a decade or so.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 14/03/2023 09:32

Are you still pronouncing it like Arya (GoT) but spelling it Aria? Because I would pronounce Aria differently.

I really like Arya but I'm biased as my online gaming name is a name that can be shortened to this and I've had that for 25 years. It's funny though because no one shortened it to Arya before GoT, I was always Ary.

I like it

What does a nothing make mean?
It means air, like fresh air or musical air, which seems insubstantial, and it is mainly vowels. It blends into all the other vowelly names that are around.

Maria is a classic and Ria could be a short form for it, but there are so many Mias. Rita seems stronger than Ria.

I pronounce it AREia
Julia as another name we toyed with. I think it’s similar but feels more fresh.

I would pronounce Aria as Ah ree ah as it's a classical music word which means 'song'. Often in operas or as the title of a solo instrumental piece.

AbsoluteYawns · 14/03/2023 13:34

IIRC it's quite a traditional Iranian name...
Do you have any cultural links there?

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 14/03/2023 13:34

I've never come across a Maria but know there are two Arias in DD's school!

I really like Julia.

pinkpanther84 · 14/03/2023 13:49

I think Aria is a beautiful name

Pinkjellies · 14/03/2023 13:57

I love Aria but it is still quite popular as a baby name.

jackstini · 14/03/2023 14:15

I love it

I don't know many Marias (I know 4) and know no Arias.
Classic names don't seem as overused as trendy ones IMO.
Noah and Theo seem very overused, whereas Oliver and James don't to me, probably because I know Olivers, Jameses and Marias of different ages, not just under 18s.
