I'm not going to reveal the names, as I don't think a whole thread of 'i prefer A, B is horrible' etc will help.
Husband and I got potential names down to two, one preferred by me, one him. My name had a more unusual pronunciation and less shortenings, so although I loved the name I liked, I went for his suggestion. Didn't name the baby for two weeks either as in hospital and didn't want to name her in a difficult situation incase tainted the name.
Anyway, registered about a week ago and still don't feel quite settled with the name. It doesn't help people keep mispronouncing it anyway, so I feel a bit like one of the main reasons for going for it over the other is redundant. People also have been quick to use the shortenings and whilst I liked them, they don't feel right at the moment, although that may be because I've not had a chance to use the full name enough yet.
I had a similar feeling with my first child's name tbh, but the difference there is I had no alternative I liked so it was just a case of settling in. I'm not sure if I'm just unsure because of the same reasons and it will fade, or whether it's my instinct telling me I'm wrong.
How long did it take everyone to 'settle' into a name. What about nicknames? Did anyone find they needed to change it after registering and do so?
Both names have ended up in babies moniker by the way, first name and middle name, so it would be a case of reordering.
