Annie is lovely
All the others are ok but not my choice.

Orangebadger · 12/02/2023 11:44

Love Zoe and Beatrix, I have a Zoe and had my DS been a DD he would have been Beatrix.

Also like robin, Annie, not so keen on the others though.

DuchessOfSausage · 12/02/2023 11:48

Sadie - ok
Maeve - lose
Romilly - lose
Robin (prefer it with an ‘I’ rather than ‘y’) - usually a boy's name but ok
Frankie - ok short for Frances/ca. Frank is popular so she might be one of several Frankies with the others being boys
Zoe - like
Sylvie - lose
Beatrix/ Beatrice - ok
Annie - like
Rowan - usually a boy's name but quite nice. Might be one of several Rowans and lots of Romans.

Annie and Zoe are the nicest

TempsPerdu · 12/02/2023 19:12

Definitely keep: Zoe, Sylvie, Annie, Rowan - all lovely

Definitely ditch: Frankie - really dislike; it sounds harsh and a bit ‘cheap’ to me. Don’t like it for a boy either.

Maeve - very faddy and likely to date

Romilly - feels too fussy and clunky and for some reason it seems like an adverb to me!

Robin - used to love this but feel very meh about it now.

Unsure on: Beatrix/Beatrice - lots of Beas around here. Beatrix has a bit more of a spark to it for me, but neither is a particular favourite.

Sadie - it’s OK but a bit nothingy/insubstantial

Purpletopaz42 · 12/02/2023 19:36

I really like Zoe, Beatrix and Sylvie, they're lovely names and my favourites on your list. The only names I don't like are Romilly and Rowan. Romilly, no particular reason, just personally don't like it and Rowan, I like as a boys name but I wouldn't use it for a girl.

peasandquiets · 12/02/2023 20:11

Sadie - dislike - reminds me of sadistic
Maeve - nice
Romilly - nice
Robin (prefer it with an ‘I’ rather than ‘y’) - dislike with i - she'll keep having to correct people who assume she's male, why do this to her?
Frankie - not a fan, quite a harsh sound
Zoe - love!
Sylvie - nice
Beatrix/ Beatrice - only like Beatrice
Annie - nice
Rowan - dislike, very common now

cptartapp · 12/02/2023 20:23

Sadie - lose
Maeve- sounds like short for Mavis. Mave. Definitely lose.
Romilly - ok ish.
Robin -lose. Sounds like a boys name anyway.
Frankie- love Francesca. Lose Frankie
Zoe - like
Sylvie - dreadful. Lose.
Beatrix - lose
Annie - lose. Like Anna though.
Rowan- lose.

Sadie
Maeve
Sylvie
Beatrice

TempsPerdu · 12/02/2023 21:00

As an aside, I would add re Rowan that I keep seeing comments about how common it is now, but for girls at least it really isn’t - #426 in England last year. For boys more so (#63) but it’s still not ridiculously common.

Slightly biased/invested, as it’s DD’s middle name, but I just find it interesting how everyone has suddenly decided it’s overused when the actual stats say otherwise!

Newpuppymummy · 12/02/2023 21:43

Romilly love

Robin (prefer it with an ‘I’ rather than ‘y’) no

Have you had your baby yet? Can you wait and see how you feel after she is born?

Also everyone has views on names but none matter other than the parents.

I love Sylvie as my Nan's sister was called Sylvie, and she was such a kind women. But someone on here thinks it's 'dreadful'. It's a classic, classy name. We all have our views, but who cares what randoms on MN think.

cravingtoblerone · 13/02/2023 19:51

I love Annie- although would probably use Anna on the birth cert and have Annie as the NN.

linziere · 13/02/2023 20:04

We had Rowan and Robin as our shortlist for when our DD was born but waited to choose until she was born to choose.

We went with Rowan straight away so obviously I'm very biased but I love it for a girl. We've only met one other in the past 18 months who was a boy.

Strangely, I'd never pick Rowan or Robin for a boy but loved them for a girl.

Maeve, Robin, Beatrix, Annie and Zoe - I like off your list.
Names are very personal.
You might also like Rowena or Maude.

Pricklyheath · 14/02/2023 07:16

I love Maeve.
Annie is cute.
Robin ok.
