I don't like the Myles spelling, but Miles is lovely.
Alfie is ok but I don't like Albie

Ridingfree · 08/02/2023 11:04

Alibis is so common now but I love myles

Consufed · 08/02/2023 11:10

Miles with an i is nice.

Alfie and Albie are overused now. Of the two, I prefer Alfie. Albie sounds as though it's short for Albino.

Lollyloup91 · 08/02/2023 11:13

Yes I would go Myles or even Miles.

I think the Alfie's, Arthur's, Albies, and all the other vowels are quite overused these days!

Pinkdafodils · 08/02/2023 12:15

Albie is so awful, unless you’re very upper class

What Confused? It's awful regardless of 'class'..?!

RuthW · 08/02/2023 12:17

Myles.

PinkElephantsInLemonade · 08/02/2023 12:33

Around ten.years ago Alfie was a bit of a marker of class. As in tended to be less common sense he higher up you went. No idea now though as it has gained popularity since then, it may be more even.
That said, I have been reading the Alfie book series to my children and now just have that lovely association for the name.

I used to teach an Albie. Very sweet child and name suited him, but was early years class so no idea if it aged well with him.

Not personally a massive fan of Myles, but that's just my personal taste.

If you do go for Alfie you simply must get the Alfie books. Tbh you should get them anyway.

Miles.

User6761 · 08/02/2023 12:51

Definitely Myles.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/02/2023 12:52

Myles spelt Miles.

drpet49 · 08/02/2023 12:57

whatsinaname2 · 07/02/2023 23:13

Not Alfie or Albie, God no. Myles is lovely though.

This

Everanewbie · 08/02/2023 14:06

Myles. Prepared to get flamed but I can't abide abbreviations as full forenames. By all means call them the abbreviation in day to day life but use the full name on the birth certificate.

FayCarew · 08/02/2023 14:39

@Everanewbie , I think it depends on the diminutive. Theo, Harry, Kate or Eliza seem fine on their own but Alfie, Lexi, Teddy or Tommy don't.

Alfred seems a bit more substantial than Alfie.

BridieConvert · 08/02/2023 16:04

Myles definitely!

Pinkdafodils · 08/02/2023 17:47

Theo, Harry, Kate or Eliza seem fine on their own

I'd much prefer to be called Theodore or Katherine - beautiful classic names that can be shortened by friends and family

FayCarew · 08/02/2023 19:43

@Pinkdafodils , I don't like Theodore - I see The Odour. Katherine might get shortened to Kath said as Kaff, and there's the issue of Catherine/Katherine/Katharine/Kathryn/Cathryn

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/02/2023 20:44

Myles

A bit less overused than Alfie and Albie - also they are v twee, so I think you need to use Alfred or Albert as full names, but they are also overused..

fuckaroo · 08/02/2023 20:47

Not myles I prefer mull

fuckaroo · 08/02/2023 20:47

Mylo *

resm · 08/02/2023 21:23

Alfie.

Aquamarine1029 · 08/02/2023 21:25

Myles if I had to choose. Alfie and Albie are just terrible. You're naming and adult, not a baby. They will have to live with this name forever.

DramaAlpaca · 08/02/2023 23:48

Myles, or Miles.

The other two are cutesy and twee, a big no for me.

Bingobangodrinkacanoftango · 08/02/2023 23:51

Sooooo many Alfie and Albies around. Like sooo many. Myles is nice.

Lalliella · 09/02/2023 00:44

Miles with an i otherwise he’d be endlessly correcting the spelling.
Alfie second place.
Not Albie.

piggijg · 09/02/2023 00:49

Albert shortened to Albie is very sweet.
