Rowan

Robyn (Robbie) - ok, prefer Bobbie to Robbie for a girl
Raphaëlle - too frilly, don't like the way it gets said as Raffa-yell
Rowan - quite nice but Roman/Rowan type names v popular for boys
Rain - Raine is more elegant
Ruri (Japanese name not Irish) - think you'll get Ruairi/Rory a lot
Romy - ok
Reva - Reeva spelling better and there are lots of Evas

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/01/2023 20:00

I’d go for Robin - prefer the straight unisex spelling

Rosen (Rozen)
Roslyn

I think Rowan is one of the most beautiful names in the world.

I wouldn't give a UK child a name with an umlaut, personally.

Molehillfromamountain · 27/01/2023 20:04

Rebecca,
Reese?
I like Robyn from your list.

Robyn was on our list but we ended up with a DS.

How about Roxanne with the nn Roxy?
Or Ruby?

Flaunch · 27/01/2023 20:37

I like all of them except Raphaëlle and Robyn, although I love Robin. I also like Rita.

LimitlessSky · 27/01/2023 20:46

Robyn (Robbie) - I don’t like this for a girl.

Raphaëlle - too fancy. Depends where you live i think.

Rowan - no.

Rain - I really like this

Ruri (Japanese name not Irish) - I don’t like it

Romy - I like this.

Reva - I’ve not heard this one before

KirstenBlest · 27/01/2023 20:48

I like Rita. Seems assertive and fresh.

Lcb123 · 27/01/2023 20:48

I wouldn’t give ‘Raphaëlle’ in the UK-seems pretentious and no one will spell it right. Romy and Rowse are lovely

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 27/01/2023 21:55

Robin for me. Then Romy. Then Reeva. With those spellings.

LittleCactus · 27/01/2023 22:15

Robyn

MrsSkylerWhite · 27/01/2023 22:16

Rowan is lovely.

Blufelt · 27/01/2023 22:24

Why would you give a British child a name with an umlaut in it? Bizarre if you have no connection to any country which uses umlauts in its language. And why would you add an umlaut to a French/Hebrew name anyway, when those languages don’t use umlauts?

DamnAllTheJellyfish · 27/01/2023 22:26

Robyn is my fave from your list, was on my list of girls names but I don't like the nickname Robbie for a girl, it doesn't seem unisex to me.

SaorsaSolasta · 27/01/2023 22:28

Rhea/Rhia/Ria
Ruby
Rhona/Rona
Rue
Rhoda

Hbh17 · 27/01/2023 22:32

Robyn (but not Robbie - why would she need a nickname?).
The only Rowan I know is a boy!

Yika · 27/01/2023 22:39

Raphaëlle is lovely (and this is the way it would be spelt in French).

this is my favourite from your list. It’s very unusual and yet a recognisably classic name.

What about
Rania
Raquel

YouJustDoYou · 27/01/2023 22:41

Just to say, the Japanese name wouldn't be pronounced as an "r" sound. It's sounded out as an "L" so would be completely wrong pronounced the incorrect western way.
