Any thoughts as to above. If we ever had a 4th dc, Molly would be my girls name..

Oh and the adult Molly I know is hard working, a fuckton of fun, a family person, very studious at school and has an adventurous side.

Soubriquet · 27/01/2023 09:37

My Molly wants to be a teacher when she’s older. We shall see I guess

Meceme · 27/01/2023 09:58

The adult Molly I know is in her late twenties, looks like Misty from pokemon and works as an artist in the games industry. She's seriously cool.
She was a bit peeved at being named Molly in her teenage years as all her friends seemed to have dogs called Molly then. 🐕

Cute for a kid, not so much for a teen or adult. Feels like a little girls name. I feel Molly as an adult is a bit ditzy. Also agree with someone else being a dog's name

My Nan had a dog called Molly when my baby Molly was named Grin.

My DM had a lovely neighbour called Molly who died recently aged 100. I only knew her as an adult so to me it seems very suitable for all ages. Nice name.

I love the name Molly.

I imagine a small girl with a mop of curly hair and a love for ponies and rabbits.

A teen girl experimenting with emo and who still loves ponies and animals and a vegan.

An adult woman who has a small holding.

All are nice and gentle yet with inner strength and take no shit but in a nice way.

Love the name Molly
It is a happy name

Allblackeverythingalways · 27/01/2023 10:39

Slang for ecstasy

Phos · 27/01/2023 10:40

I've got bad associations with a kid Molly (who I taught), a family members teen stepdaughter Molly and a woman I used to work with named Molly so it's a bit tainted for me. I didn't love it before those associations though, I don't know, its one of those that seems a bit too cutesy to be taken seriously.

Molly off Strictly is my first image - blond smiley children's presenter.

But I agree in general it's a perfectly pleasant name that works across all ages.

Knoblauch · 27/01/2023 10:43

I know a very lovely, intelligent adult Molly with a good career and her own family.

Molly is slang for MDMA, as some posters like to point out whenever it comes up on MN. But it clearly makes absolutely no difference in real life as it's consistently been a top 100 name for the last 10 years.

Rickiticki · 27/01/2023 10:51

I had an aunt, Mary, who was always known as Molly.
She was petite, glamorous, well dressed, liked luxury, a very astute business woman, was adored by her younger husband.

SilentNightDancer · 27/01/2023 13:07

I think of Molly as a downtrodden Victorian maid with a lace cap.

She has a bit of spark when she is a young girl, but gets worn down over time with her job. As an adult, she is grey and careworn.

Otherwise, it's a good name for a sheepdog.

Molly - MDMA/ Ecstasy no it’s a no from me

It’s a bit wet.
child: brown hair, does her homework
teen: insta tan and eyelashes
adult: good friend, works as a hairdresser

This made me laugh 😂 My best friend since childhood is called Molly.
She is a very light natural blonde.
As a teen she was into indie music, went to lots of bands, never wore makeup or did much with her hair and loved baggy jeans with baggy band T-shirts.
Shes a solicitor now.

trieditbuyedit · 27/01/2023 13:11

First I'd picture drugs.

Then I'd picture a pretty, but overly filtered tiktok addict Smile
Popular with plenty of friends and a bit ditsy.

LadyKenya · 27/01/2023 13:15

I have never known a Molly personally, but when I see the name, I think of the fabulous Molly Sugden, and the lovely coloured wigs she wore in Are you being served.

LadyKenya · 27/01/2023 13:16

Sorry, I spelt Mollie's name wrong.

pairofrollerskates · 27/01/2023 13:37

Plumpish, freckles, reddish air. Rosy cheeks. Probably plays hockey not very well but enthusiastically.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 28/01/2023 11:46

The only young adult Molly I’ve known recently has spoiled the name for me as she’s lazy and whiny (still scarred from working with her).

Otherwise Molly is a feisty, white-haired Scottish granny, tiny and kind but ferocious when she needs to be.

CharitySchmarity · 29/01/2023 10:42

Little girl: chubby and lovable.

Teenager: cool and a bit alternative.

Adult: I can only picture a fairly old Irish woman. If not, then maybe someone a bit bohemian, who likes wearing bright colours.

userhjf67 · 29/01/2023 10:51

My god daughter is a Molly, she's 13. A amazing girl super kind, a good friend, extremely bright, good a sports talented dancer, singer and performer generally just a good all rounder
