Which one do you like out of these? Any other hidden gems that we may have missed, please feel free to suggest (though it might make us even more confused 😅)

Our baby girl will be half South Asian, half Irish American and grow up in London & New York

Thank you so much!

Pettymys, Its a Finnish name meaning Strong and Smart.

HusbandKeepsSnoring · 15/01/2023 23:38

Rosanna and Clara were our top 2, so love them both. DD is named Rosanna so obviously that's my choice!

DurdleSnore · 16/01/2023 12:40

Have you considered the US/UK pronunciation differences with Clara? She’ll be Clahra in London and Claira in New York.

I like Rosanna with nn Rosa.

SilentNightDancer · 16/01/2023 13:14

Have you considered Tara? It's an Irish name, as well as meaning 'star' in Sanskrit (I believe).

Thesonglastslonger · 16/01/2023 13:33

They’re all lovely. Slight preference for Serena. If it was my child though I’d probably go for Rosanna so she has more flexibility with nicknames (Ros / Rosie / Rox / Anna / Annie).

Any interest in Rowena / Rowenna? Love that name and it deserves a comeback I think.

Oh wow! What are the odds 😀😀 how old is your DD now? Do you find you tend to call her a nickname?

She's 9 weeks old! She mainly gets Rosanna or Rosie (amongst other random, unrelated nicknames!) I do like the nn Rosie and it suits her but I'm making sure people call her Rosanna as well as I love the name and want to make sure it's used! It's probably 50/50 which one people call her at the moment 😊

HusbandKeepsSnoring · 16/01/2023 22:27

I will add as well that people didn't start calling her Rosie until we did. I've noticed people have followed our lead as to what to call her 😁

Rosie is a lovely NN! I think we’d probably say ‘baby Ro’ for a while and then go with a NN that suits her - maybe Rosie but I think she might also suit a Rosa. It’s a lovely name, with lots of options!

Really like Clara!
Rosanna is OK but prefer Rosa and Rose
I've always disliked Serena - I don't really know why!

I love Rosanna.

How about Cara?

Sparklehead · 19/01/2023 16:33

Clara is my favourite, and was on my list of favourite girls names. I also liked Clarabelle, with Clara as the short version.

Strongboat · 19/01/2023 16:38

Clara.
Frieda/Freda/Alfreda?

allfurcoatnoknickers · 19/01/2023 16:45

Serena was in our top 3 for DD, but we ended up going for something different because we thought calling her Serena was tempting fate/asking for trouble 😂. We were also seriously considering Sabrina.

CharitySchmarity · 19/01/2023 20:39

I like Rosanna very much. It's pretty but not soppy, has a few good potential short forms and is not too popular or too weird. It would definitely be my top choice of these 3.

I like Clara pronounced Clare-a but not Clar-a which seems to be more popular nowadays. Whichever way you like it, some people will try to pronounce it the other way so you need to be sure that won't irritate you too much.

Serena sounds nice but one of those names that could be hard to live up to - you can bet someone will joke about it when your baby is screaming/little girl is causing chaos/teenager is swearing and slamming doors.

MooMa83 · 19/01/2023 20:41

Rosina? Mixture if Rosanna and Serena. Love Clara too.

Geamhradh · 20/01/2023 09:13

Clara would be my favourite, but I'm in Italy where all 3 are used. Serena is really popular it seems and Rosanna is old-fashioned and usually a diminutive of Rosa Anna. Compounded here by there being:
Rosanna
Rossanna
Rossana

I work with one of each, and each has a different pronunciation so we end up calling them all Ro.
