How is the name Michaela spelt?

To me it’s Mi-cha-eh-la.

Is it how it’s pronounced in the Uk?

Findyourneutralspace · 26/12/2022 22:14

Spelled Michaela and pronounced MickEHla

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 26/12/2022 22:14

Mih-kay-la which I think is the same as you've put?

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/12/2022 22:15

Michaela

Mi-KAEL-uh

the middle two syllables are almost one

BoobsOnTheMoon · 26/12/2022 22:16

Do you mean spelt or pronounced?

DancingSober · 26/12/2022 22:16

Mih-kay-la is the British pronunciation.

Mick-igh-yay-lah (or something along those lines) is how I've heard it pronounced in Europe... Probably haven't written that down very clearly. But there I have heard two different pronunciations

ofwarren · 26/12/2022 22:16

You pronounce it with a ch?
I say Mick ay La

BadgeronaMoped · 26/12/2022 22:18

Without the second H spelling-wise in the UK. Basing that on the only two Michaelas I've ever known in my 39 years, the nice one at school, and Michaela Strachan on the TV.

CharitySchmarity · 26/12/2022 22:20

The very first one I ever met (who must now be about 50) was mick-EYE-la, so I've always assumed that was the right way, but more recently I've met a couple of mick-AY-las, so now I'm not so sure. All the unusual variant spellings seem to suggest mick-AY-la too.

RambamThankyouMam · 27/12/2022 08:52

Michaela is spelled... Michaela.

MerryChristmasToYou · 27/12/2022 09:39

Michaela is pronounced Mick-ay-la. Michaela Strachan is a well known tv presenter.

Purplemagnolias · 28/12/2022 07:34

I'd pronounce it Mich ah eh la

Geamhradh · 28/12/2022 07:39

I only know one personally in the UK and she pronounces hers "mi-kai-la" though I know the more common pronunciation is "mi-kei -la"

Here in Italy the pronunciation depends on the spelling. I've got 2 in one class- Michela pronounced like M Strachan and Michaela pronounced like my friend in the UK.

Kladebs · 29/12/2022 15:22

Mick-ay-la. Spelt Michaela

This is my name. But my name is spelt incorrectly. I never find a pen, or a key ring with my name on it Sad

Soubriquet · 29/12/2022 16:25

Btw, name is pronounced Mi-Kay-La.

Intrigued - in what language would Michaela be pronounced “Mich ah eh la”? (And by ‘Mich’ do you mean ‘mick’, ‘meek’ or ‘mish’?)

Italian.
Mich= Mick
Ae= both vowels given their full emphasis, so A as in cat, followed by E as in egg.
Bit more phonetically complicated than that, but you get the drift.

Screenburn · 29/12/2022 20:21

Thanks for the explanation! I would’ve thought it’d be “mick-eye-la” so good to know it’s not if I ever meet any Italian Michaelas :)

KirstenBlest · 29/12/2022 20:22

Wouldn't it be Michela in Italy?
