Elias - How do British pronounce it?

It’s natural to me, as I read it, to pronounce it as Eee - lee - as.

Is it the way it is pronounced in the Uk?

I would pronounce it

Eee - lie - as

No emphasis on any syllable.

What did you teach them, @Abraxan ? What were their backgrounds?

Mainly white European and/or British boys, primary school age. Living in the north off England.

I prefer the El-ee-us/as pronunciation.

I pronounce Elliot the same way as you.

Ee-lie-ass is my first instinct, then elly-ass.
I'd have to ask.

Why Elias is like Elijah and not like Elliot or Eliana is a mystery …
