Not pregnant, just curious, what do you think the name Jordan for a girl?

I’m another one that straight away thinks of Katie Price.
I don’t like the name for a girl or boy though regardless of that association.

BabyFour2023 · 19/12/2022 11:02

Katie Prices stripper alter ego. No.

Yarrawonga · 19/12/2022 11:06

Great 😅 any variation from the name Jordan you like for a girl?

Elizabeth?

SlashBeef · 19/12/2022 11:37

I only really like it for a boy. For a girl it just brings Kate Price to mind.

I wanted to use it, it’s a family surname. But Katie Price ruined it.

CPL593H · 19/12/2022 12:22

Family surname for me too and has connotation of a relative who was always called it within the family to distinguish from his father (same first name) He had very little in common with Katie Price. Incredibly little. Grin

Quite liked it being used by Jordan the punk goddess back in the day, or for Jordan Baker, the Scott Fitzgerald ice maiden, but I think it has now had it for at least a generation in the UK. Shame as it does work as a first name.

mishl · 19/12/2022 16:46

I think it's alright, though it was ruined by Katie Price for a good while. It also does make me think "boy".
Jordana is nicer.

Blueduvet22 · 19/12/2022 16:51

Like Michael Jordan ?! No.

xprincessxjanetx · 20/12/2022 02:14

Makes me think of KP

purplecheesecat · 20/12/2022 02:23

To me Jordan is either a boys name, or carries associations with Katie Price. How about Johanna, or Morgan?

Flaunch · 20/12/2022 02:59

I’ve always liked the sound of it but a, it’s chavvy as hell now and b, well… Jordan.

It’s definitely unisex but I think better suited to boys.

thefiddlerselbow · 20/12/2022 03:08

I think I know as many female Jordans as male Jordans. They're all in their 20s. I just figured it was Mums who'd been NKOTB fabs back in the day.

urbanbuddha · 20/12/2022 03:47

Jordan

daschundthroughthesnow · 20/12/2022 03:47

Sorry I think it's a horrible name

Eminybob · 20/12/2022 03:53

All the Jordans I know irl are male.

What about Georgia?

lennolin · 20/12/2022 04:08

One person has actually ruined that name as a nice girls name.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 20/12/2022 04:23

My dc are in their 20s and when they were at school there were several Jordans around, both boys and girls.

I don't really like it for a girl.

PermanentTemporary · 20/12/2022 05:08

Yes I think it's unisex. I have a lovely colleague called Jordan who's in her late 20s so that's who I think of. I wouldn't choose it myself and would be quite surprised if ds had a child called Jordan.

strawberriesplease · 20/12/2022 05:52

Chav

BCBird · 20/12/2022 05:57

It's a no from me . Negative association with Katie Price.

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/12/2022 09:28

It’s technically a great biblically inspired unisex name.

But the reality is Katie Price has tainted it for girls (her peers might not know but the parents eyebrows will raise mightily), and for boys it’s just a bit dated / sounds a bit too much like the much maligned Jayden / Kayden type names.

It needs to rest for a bit

Jocelyn is a lovely alternative

Arran
Catrin
Mirren
Manon
Aislinn
Morgan

might be others

fairycupcakes · 20/12/2022 18:14

Immediately think of Jordan (Katie Price) which I’m quite neutral about really 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it’s perhaps quite dated and more of a boys name at the moment but it’s not to say that won’t change.

how about Jordana? (jord ahna)

Katie Price, I think Katie Price and that’s not good.

HoratioNightboy · 20/12/2022 21:42

I've seen Jordaina used for two girls in modern times, but historically I've only seen it used once, for a male. I quite like it.
