Would you like the name Aggelos for a baby boy?

Does it sound too foreign?

It is pronounced as “Agg - eh - los”

I think it's fine, but I would spell it Angelos in England as that is closer to the Greek pronunciation and more friendly to anglophone ears. Your child will habe his name mispronounced as An-J-e-los a bit but I really wouldn't worry about that. People mispronounce many foreign language words and they either get if wrong once and correct themselves or get it wrong forever and mark themselves out as not very socially aware

It would be mispronounced in the UK - agg-uh-los.

It should be Ang-gel-os, with a hard G.

I’ve never seen the name before. I’d pronounce it agg - ell - oss if no one told me otherwise.

Reading the thread, if it’s supposed to be pronounced angelos, I’d say there’s an extremely low chance of it being pronounced like that in the UK.

I’m not sure I like it as a name, pronounced the way I’d assume in England. Reminds me of aggravating, aggressive etc - kind of confrontational. Or the girls name Agatha (which is great but sounds quite witchy!) But that’s obviously very subjective. Angelos on the other hand makes me think “beautiful, angelic, calm, wise”.

Is it culturally significant to you? I wouldn’t think twice about it as a name for a child with, say, Greek parents but I’m not sure for Mr and Mrs Smith from Yorkshire:
