Initials problem?

We’ve found a name that we really love, but with the middle name (that can’t change, family name), the initials spell CUM. Is this a problem and should we go back to the drawing board? We’ve literally only got this one name that we love but the initials are worrying me

Pahaha yes they will probably get some stick

cleanfreak12345 · 13/12/2022 21:52

Not a good idea

I was told about a couple who have a child called for example Brian James O'Brien

olivewalls · 13/12/2022 21:53

Please don't do that to your child, can you imagine how embarrassing that'll be for them

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 13/12/2022 21:54

Could you add a second middle name before or after the current one?

Kentlassie · 13/12/2022 21:56

Don’t do it!

Babyinitial · 13/12/2022 21:56

Back to the drawing board then😂, I knew it was bad but I’ve convinced myself it’s fine. Ok considering maybe adding another middle name

I normally say initials don’t matter, teasing potential is overrated etc. But I’d avoid that one. Adding a second middle would be a great solution though.

Barleysugar86 · 13/12/2022 21:59

Yeah... Even with the best of intentions they will get used. At work when writing minutes or naming confidential documents with personal information we will use their full initials. That one isn't subtle either!

laalaaleelee · 13/12/2022 22:00

Nooooo don't let them be called CUM

Itsoktogiveup · 13/12/2022 22:01

Calling your cjild CUM is not an option.

At work my initials were automatically made my access code. All my documents were labelled ABC123 in the corner, I had to type in ABC123 to access the photocopyier, etc. I would not have been happy if my parents had given me the initials CUM!!

WillTryNotToBeGrumpy · 13/12/2022 22:04

Hahaha! Normally wouldn't bother about initials but my inner 14 year old finds that hilarious.

Bubbles1st · 13/12/2022 22:07

Do not do it!

allboysherebutme · 13/12/2022 22:11

Definitely.

purplemunkey · 13/12/2022 22:14

But, when do people use initials including their middle name? Surely it’s just first and last name.

I agree it’s not ideal, but I can’t think of any instance where my initials are used that include my middle name. In which case CM is fine surely?

Pterrydactyl · 13/12/2022 22:15

🤣 I’d avoid that one!

Pterrydactyl · 13/12/2022 22:16

The problem is when there’s more than one CM. Then the middle initials tend to come into play…

Fivebeanchilli · 13/12/2022 22:16

You can't use that. We use full set of initials all the time at work.
Maybe add in Henry and make it CHUM?!

Orangebadger · 13/12/2022 22:18

No way, please don't!

Mischance · 13/12/2022 22:20

First rule of naming a baby is not to have a middle name beginning with a vowel.

LachrymoseLeeches · 13/12/2022 22:23

We use full initials at work, I am glad mine aren't CUM. Sorry. I think adding another middle name is a good solution though.

purplemunkey · 13/12/2022 22:24

Fair enough. I’ve never come across that myself. I don’t think my work even know my middle initial!

coodawoodashooda · 13/12/2022 22:24

Can you change the first name spelling? Alternate the c for an s possibility?

Haus1234 · 13/12/2022 22:27

My university email address had all my initials. Don’t do it!

Snugglemonkey · 13/12/2022 22:37

I am another no vote, however if you cannot think of anotheriddle name you like, or it all gets too long and unwieldy , you could use UCM and call them C.

TokenGinger · 13/12/2022 22:52

Yeh, definitely not wise. We changed our name when we realised her initials would be FFS.
