Love Francis.

crunchthegears · 16/11/2022 15:28

Francis is lovely! Classic and classy

LulooLemon · 16/11/2022 15:30

Francis or Vincent.

Just be aware with Francis there will be regional variations in pronunciation.

The way people say the 'a' of 'bath' is how they will say the 'a' in Francis.

Gummibär · 16/11/2022 15:35

They're all nice but Francis and Vincent are the more timeless names. Stanley seems a little trendy and may date

fairycupcakes · 16/11/2022 15:40

Love Stanley & Francis!

I suppose you do have to be ok with the inevitable shortening of their names as they grow up either by peers or just out of their own preference etc.

ShesThunderstorms · 16/11/2022 15:48

Stanley! I'm very biased though. I always said I didn't want it shortening to Stan and I still don't, but other people do now and then and it doesn't bother me like I thought it would.

GlassDeli · 16/11/2022 15:49

I like Francis, with potential nickname Frank or Frankie. I also like Vincent but not Vinnie.

I know a Vincent who is shortened to Vin or Vince not Vinnie. And lengthened to Vincenzo!

What other way can it be pronounced?

I'm Scottish btw 😳

LulooLemon · 16/11/2022 23:58

What I meant was, for example people from the south of England will say a long 'a' sound, kind of 'Frahn-cis', whereas in the West Midlands and North, it will be a short 'a', as in the word 'cat'.

And I'm now picturing a lovely Edinburgh pronunciation of Francis will a softly rolled 'r'...

It's just something for the OP to bear in mind. Some names change far more than others with regional differences.

I love Vincent. Stanley is good too.

I like Francis but only as a middle name as I strongly dislike the diminutives.

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/11/2022 02:03

Love Francis and Stanley.

Don’t like Vincent (a bit thuggish)
