Is Hope too much or too cheesy?

Just wondering.

DH suggested it as a middle name.

I always sort of liked it and wondering if I should add it as a second middle name because its meaning is just so lovely but can't really see it as the only middle name.

Then I'm wondering if it might be too cheesy or overused in the middle? Is it already the new Grace or Rose?

I'm also wondering whether the sound is actually nice? I like it on paper and the meaning but when I say it many times in a row it sometimes sounds fine and sometimes a bit odd.

Just sort of thinking this through, happy for any input.

I had a really close friend throughout school called hope.
She was never bullied, she didn't have any nicknames, everything was fine.

If you like it then go for it ☺️

My DD2 is Ella Hope after 7 years ttc between DDs. I love the 'virtue' names- adore Charity and Clemency too.

Why would anyone bother with a second middle name unless it had an important meaning? Why would anyone need more than one? It's just more to have to write down every time you fill out a form.

I think it is the new Grace or Rose middle filler, sadly

Less so as a first name

Why bother with a middle name at all by that logic?

There’s nothing very unusual about 2 middle names

It's nice as a middle name (prefer Joy!!)

For a while, every single baby girl born prematurely was named Hope. It seemed.

Beautiful name. I wish I had managed to persuade my husband.

wishing3 · 13/11/2022 19:55

Lovely name.

RandomMess · 13/11/2022 20:04

It's lovely one of my DC has it has a middle name inspired from my childhood of watching thirty something on TV but also she was my hope of a better future

ofwarren · 13/11/2022 20:05

I think it's a lovely name

caitlinrose · 13/11/2022 21:54

Many people I know have two middle names so it never struck me as weird.

It's sort of becoming more and more the norm around here. I know more kids younger than 5 who have two middle names than who have only one.

It's DD's middle name, although she is named after the Hope Valley in Derbyshire, rather than the virtue name. We are in Yorkshire, and haven't had any "Orp" issues!

Spookypig · 13/11/2022 23:26

It’s beautiful, I love it 😍

Enko · 13/11/2022 23:28

Beautiful. I know 2 neither are called hopeless

Suedomin · 14/11/2022 15:20

I live in the north and have never heard anyone pronounce Hope as orp!

gogohmm · 14/11/2022 15:24

I like it but I wouldn't bother with 2 middle names unless they are family names (eg political to have both grandmothers' names) just extra to fill out on forms, I was offered an extra middle name when I was baptised, I turned it down

Pamlar · 15/11/2022 19:49

It's lovely
Also love Honor as pp mentioned

Our daughter's middle name is Hope. She was conceived naturally against all odds just as we were embarking on ivf following my husband's cancer. She is our miracle, the light that pulled us out of the darkness, and no middle name could suit her more. It's lovely and so powerful, use it!
