My son is called Blue. We get lots of compliments. Although when he's legged it in a shop and I'm shouting Blue I do look like I'm having a mental breakdown screaming at a colour LOL

Radward? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why not go the whole hog and just call the poor child Kool Unique?

You are naming a future adult, not a fucking fashion accessory.

Posting to say please please please don’t name your child “maverick”
it’s an adjective that is something your child might not identify with at all. They might be someone who really likes tradition for example. They could be a huge nerd (nothing wrong with this, loads of huge nerds in my life, I love them all, but you can’t force people to be cool by the name you give them)
Maverick as a name would quite literally be a label they would have to wear forever - and as very few people are actually mavericks, it’s likely to be inappropriate.

Perhaps they will turn out to actually be quite “maverick” in their ways and you could call them this as NN but you couldn’t possibly inculcate this as a characteristic through a choice of name.

Also, the x-men character Maverick (possibly where the use of this as a name comes from) wasn’t a nice guy. One of his mutations was the ‘power of sexiness’…🤮I think you probably wouldn’t pick another Xmen name (The Beast, Wolverine, Cyclops, Magneto etc) the Xmen all had real names - they were not their labels.

It’s not to my taste but River is quite popular at the moment and “Riv” is a cool sounding nick name.

A couple of people saying Ralph but all I can think of is Ralph Wiggum from the simpsons …..not my idea of a cool name haha

For me it has a Judy Blume association Wink

Gummibär · 12/11/2022 19:35

Op, the name Teddy is definitely NOT cool. It might be cute for a bear 🐻 or toddler but it's not a cool name for a teen or adult!

I think these are quite cool:

Raphael
Quentin
Vincent
Marcus

ShouldntHaveBeenSoHasty · 12/11/2022 19:46

@MassiveSalad22 I think Maverick is possibly worse than Ace. They’re all odd names and definitely not what I would consider cool. They sound like names an American teenager in 1994 might want to call their baby. Which is fine if that’s what you’re going for but not cool, exactly.

You don’t need a cool name, you need a name that encourages someone in charge of a job application to give him an interview.

This. Remember you're naming an adult, not just a baby. It's got to be a name they can carry with dignity throughout their whole life.

RandomMusings7 · 12/11/2022 19:53

Ace = a term used to refer to asexual people

Teddy = horrible for anyone over the age of 5... Theodore is fine

Cash = not a name. Very try hard and silly

Archer = slightly better than the rest, but still not great

Gummibär · 12/11/2022 19:55

It's got to be a name they can carry with dignity throughout their whole life.

Which is why all the Teddies, Albies, Alfies may well wish that their parents had given them proper names.
