Really like the name Raphael for a boy.
Honest thoughts and opinions please.
We live in the UK & hubby has latin roots.

Marvellous name.

StarryKnight · 03/11/2022 12:40

My nephew is called Rafael - known to his friends as raffles

mangowithasqueezeoflime · 03/11/2022 18:13

We have a new baby on Spanish side with that name. He's Rafa.

Longdarkcloud · 03/11/2022 18:19

Yea!!!

Energeticenoch · 03/11/2022 18:20

It’s extremely common around here and there are multiple in each year group. Most of them go by Rafi

Whereabouts are you?

KirstenBlest · 03/11/2022 19:47

It's popular where I am too. Heard it called out in shops etc. Not as often as Noah and Alfie, but a few times.

buttergloss · 03/11/2022 19:52

@Energeticenoch also found it to be popular where I live along with Rafferty so my daughter was in a (small) class with a Raph, Raffi and Rapha.

bewarethetides · 03/11/2022 19:54

I love it.

Coconutcream123 · 03/11/2022 19:55

I like it a lot, but wouldn't choose it as I'm boring and like traditional names (in terms of traditional English names!). I think go for it if you like it.

Crikee · 03/11/2022 19:57

Love it

BCBird · 03/11/2022 20:03

It's a yes from me🙂

TitilatedOcelot · 03/11/2022 21:21

Great name - it was on my long list but DH didn't like it so didn't make the short list.

I know one aged about 11, with Latin heritage. Goes by Rafa for short.

I think of Nadal or an angel, rather than turtles!

Spookypig · 03/11/2022 23:25

Love it!

KnickerlessParsons · 03/11/2022 23:37

I'd prefer it with the dieresis: so Raphaël, but it's a lovely name either way.

MonsteraDeliciosa · 04/11/2022 07:41

It's a "yay" from me. Lovely name.

Twizbe · 04/11/2022 07:59

I like it. There are a few in my son's school. All nice boys.

Ellmau · 06/11/2022 10:34

It's lovely.

Billslills · 06/11/2022 11:20

Love! Love the name Raff

underneaththeash · 02/11/2022 23:35

I like it too. However, I have an enormous 6’5” son who is really stocky and would sound ridiculous if called Raphael.
depends what you and your husband look like..

?? A big, strong Raphael wouldn't be odd at all?! What a bizarre thing to say!

it reminds me of Cherubs and believe me DS1 would not suit the name Raphael.

Gummibär · 06/11/2022 17:42

I like Raphael but would probably assume Spanish family connections

CheesePleaseLoueese · 06/11/2022 17:56

I know a little Rafa (Rafael). Love it as a name.

AllyCatTown · 08/11/2022 07:29

I love it and it’s one of my all time fav boys names, however both me and husband are Scottish so we couldn’t use it. I do feel it suits people with connections to Latin countries where it’s from.

I did live in a Spanish city where the saint of that city was St Rafael and so it was a really common name. Although all of them seemed to go by Rafa.
