What are your thoughts on the girls' name Juno?

It's really growing on me. Due in 5 months with a girl. Looking for a strong but also feminine name, nothing too 'frilly'.

We really liked it but it was too closely associated with the film for us and didn't want it to date as a result (went to school with many a Wayne and Charlene who hate their names in adulthood, so very aware of this!)

We went for Nina and Edie in the end, which I felt were similar style. Other names included were Nancy, Esther, Jessica, Edith, Sadie, Hannah and Sylvie.

Feckedupbundle · 02/11/2022 12:46

I've always liked it. I don't know of any children/ adults with the name, but DD1's Royal Python is named Juno on my suggestion.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 02/11/2022 12:47

I love it, and would love to use it but it really REALLY doesn't work with our surname :(

Joolsin · 02/11/2022 13:13

I love it

Bruno?
Bull?
Kerr (with the middle name Alice)?

Not a fan.

I hate female names that end in "o". They sound so masculine.

Comedycook · 02/11/2022 15:15

Achingly trendy and try hard middle class.

Will date terribly

CakeCrumbs44 · 02/11/2022 15:18

I like it. 99% of people won't have a clue about any bad associations from Greek mythology.

Teeshirt · 03/11/2022 05:52

I’d assume most people picking a name like Juno will know the myth. And the film is 15 years old, so I wouldn’t call the name “achingly trendy”.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 04/11/2022 17:30

Love it, and Joni as suggested by a pp. I also really like Jean for some Seventies cool.

GAH3 · 05/11/2022 22:13

I know one (age 2/3) and I really like it. I wasn't aware of the mythology before this thread though.

You could also consider Jean.

June is much prettier

JBeanGarden · 01/03/2023 08:00

We have a Juno. We wanted something classic, not the norm and strong. We had 2 names, one more traditionally girly and Juno. After a totally confident and unwavering heartbeat during a traumatic delivery, a name representative of a Goddess and strength was totally appropriate. Lots of people think she is a boy at first, but it’s not as uncommon as people think. It’s quite nice telling people was the Queen of the ancient Roman gods! We actually met another slightly older Juno last year. Based on the rankings, I’d say there are a lot more ‘achingly trendy’ names out there.

ourflagmeansdeath · 01/03/2023 18:56

Think it's really pretty.

COPPER3 · 01/03/2023 19:18

I love it!

However, thought it was for a boy?

100% a girls’ name. Juno was a Roman goddess.

COPPER3 · 01/03/2023 19:31

Oh of course!

Even better!

Hobbesmanc · 02/03/2023 07:46

It's a really lovely strong individual name. Like Hero on another thread. I also love Joan. Another legendary woman. Needs a revival.

barca123 · 08/03/2023 12:21

Adore it :)

Marymary987 · 08/03/2023 21:40

I love it.

Ellmau · 09/03/2023 08:18

I like it.

Other options:

Hero
Artemis
Morgan
Damaris
Rosalind
Alexandra
Jocelyn
Amber
Annis
Miranda
Andrea
Julia

Juno is a lovely name, it honestly does remind me of the film but to kids in a primary school when your DD gets there they are not going to have that association with it
