Juliet

pimlicoanna · 30/10/2022 22:06

Juliet by a long way

TempsPerdu · 30/10/2022 22:10

Juliet, for all the same reasons that everyone else has mentioned. Elegant, feminine without being frilly, and relatively underused.

So much nicer than the other two.

ODFOx · 30/10/2022 22:11

Juliet

Southernbellas · 30/10/2022 22:12

Juliet. Classically beautiful.

Carbon12 · 30/10/2022 22:13

I looooove Arabella.

I taught one and she was so lovely.

shreddednips · 30/10/2022 22:17

Juliet by a million miles, it's nice- although I prefer Julia.

Arabella is too fussy for my liking, Lily is a nice sound but it's so ubiquitous it's become bland.

Spookypig · 31/10/2022 12:57

Juliet is the best! Prettiest, strongest and classiest.

Arabella is very pretty but getting a bit trendy maybe?

Lily-Rose NOOOO it’s done to death.

Pemba · 31/10/2022 13:08

I agree that Juliet is the best choice. It's pretty and classic.
I do like Arabella though, it's interesting and fairly unusual.

Both Lily and Rose are pretty names (although each has been very popular for many years). The combination of Lily Rose is OTT though.

So, yes, Juliet. Although I have to say I'd like Julia even more. Even more classic, less 'teenage romantic heroine', and relatively unusual.

Theoldwoman · 31/10/2022 13:09

Love Juliet.

KirstenBlest · 31/10/2022 16:16

Arabella is too long and she'll be Ella or Bella. Otherwise, it's pretty.
Juliet is classic, but I don't like people saying in as Julie-ETTE, and I don't like Jules.
Lily Rose - Lily has been very popular for decades, and every other Lily will be Lily Rose, and the two flower names together are a bit too much, but Noah and Lily go ok together

Thisisnotmyname2 · 31/10/2022 19:23

Honestly there's nothing wrong with your list but I'd prefer these names instead:

Annabel
Isobel
Rose (on its own) /Rosa
Lily (on its own)

Lily Rose and Arabella are just too over the top girly princess for me and Juliet just isn't something I'd choose but again, nothing wrong with the names.

SureThingy · 31/10/2022 20:23

Another one for Juliet. Beautiful name, effortless & goes well with Noah.

Arabella is just not my taste and Lily Rose, although quite pretty, it’s abit dull. I see Rose get used a lot as a 2nd name & it can sound like a ‘filler’ name, like ‘Mae’

TempsPerdu · 01/11/2022 12:39

I don’t like Jules as a nn either, but she could also be Ettie/Etta/Jet or just use the full version - plenty of choices.

Only 60 Juliets born in 2021 according to the ONS stats (plus 39 Juliettes). No idea why it isn’t more popular! There were 1012 Arabellas and 139 Lily-Roses.

IsThePopeCatholic · 01/11/2022 12:52

Juliet.
i think the others are twee.

Bideshi · 01/11/2022 13:00

Made me think of Lily Rose Ruggles from The Family from One End Street.
Arabella and Juliet are both lovely. Juliet's probably easier to live with.

Pemba · 01/11/2022 13:08

I used to love those books @Bideshi !@Bideshi am so glad someone else remembers them, I wonder if they're still in print? She was always called 'Lily Rose' wasn't she, never just Lily? I think her dad thought her mum was getting carried away, giving her such a fancy name. And then her sister was 'just plain Kate' after her dad's mother.

MerryMarigold · 01/11/2022 13:09

Another for Juliet, classically beautiful. I really dislike Arabella (try hard posh) and Lily Rose is okaaay but a bit meh.

inappropriateraspberry · 01/11/2022 13:15

Arabella is jolly hockey sticks
Juliet is nice, but can't get excited about it
Lily-Rose is very run of the mill,
like you couldn't think of anything else.

She was named after the painting ‘Rose, Carnation, Lily, Rose’ which Mrs Ruggles thought was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen. There’re lovely books but I wonder if kids would believe that level of poverty nowadays. I fancy rereading now! Anyway, not Lily Rose unless op’s surname is Ruggles.

Juliet, lovely. Or Julia.
