DD2 due in spring! 🎀

Rate my names:
Lily
Darcy
Elsa

NB: not at all bothered by popularity or whether it could be screamed in a supermarket. Just think they sound nice!

Your children know some ‘rough’ children who happen to be called Lily. That doesn’t mean Lily is a ‘rough’ name. Because there is no such thing. But I’m sure you already know that.

LynetteScavo · 26/10/2022 21:54

Elsa sounds more gown up because it ends an A. I really like it.

schoolsoutforever · 27/10/2022 17:47

I have taught, and currently teach, some lovely Lilys. However, my son has also had some grief from some Lilys in his time (bullying type behaviour). I just think that it is so popular that it take all sorts.

I’m not keen on Darcy or Elsa I’m afraid. I quite like Lily but it’s massively popular (but you say you don’t mind that).

Sandysandwich · 27/10/2022 17:59

I like Lily the most and Elsa is quite nice too

caitlinrose · 27/10/2022 18:43

Lily - lovely
Elsa - lovely
Darcy - trendy, won't date well, many spellings, not classic.

I would pick Lily.

If you want the less common option then Elsa.

Pemba · 27/10/2022 18:53

Lily and Elsa are both very nice names, but have been very popular for some time, (especially Lily) if that might bother you. There are likely to be other Lilys and Elsas in the class.

Darcy - no I don't like it, I know it's popular but it's a surname really and the first thing that comes to mind is Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. I think it will date as a girl's name.

You could vary Lily a bit - Lilia, Lillian, Liliana even Lilith if you're brave.

Nice names similar to Elsa: Eliza, Elise, Eloise.

IStandWithMaya · 27/10/2022 18:55

Lily

mathanxiety · 27/10/2022 19:21

Elsa is my favourite. Lovely German- Scandinavian feel. Not over popular. The movie won't be on anyone's mind in a few years.

Lily is a bit wispy and bland and overdone.

Darcy has 'arse' in the middle, and it's a very short hop from Darcy to 'Arsey' as a nickname, so no way.

Cuppasoupmonster · 27/10/2022 19:25

DH won’t get on board with Elsa due to the Frozen connotations but I love it so much!

Not another Lily...

Darcy is the best!

BarbieQueue · 04/11/2022 22:29

#1 Lily - it’s sweet & pretty and timeless

Elsa - I personally don’t like the name, just because I’d fear my kid would get picked on and get ‘LET IT GOOOOOOO’ shouted at her at school all the time. It wouldn’t be their own name because they would constantly get referenced to the Disney movie.

Darcy - although it’s a nice name. I always try and think of potential nicknames but one I’ve heard for this before is ‘arsey darcy’

BUT….. saying that, this is your daughter and I always say go with your gut. You will like one of these names more than the other and there will be a reason for that x

Billslills · 06/11/2022 05:22

Since when did Lily become rough?! 😂 The two families I know with baby Lilys are so far from
‘rough’. I love Lily and Elsa.

I teach a lovely girl called Dolcie. How about that?
