We currently have a Tilly, not Matilda, just Tilly. I'm pregnant with DS2 who is a boy. I really like the name Ted/Teddy but does Tilly and Teddy sound like childrens characters?! I don't know why but it makes me think of Rosie and Jim 🤣
Feels a step too comical!

Please feel free to help us out with names as the only other one I'm on at the minute is Henry and DH is failing to from an opinion on it 🙄

Tilly and Teddy together sound like two kittens.

Not characters from a tv shows (yet) but who knows.

Tilly and Theo sounds less matchy matchy

spiderlight · 20/10/2022 11:00

Tilly and Ted does sound a bit CBeebies, sorry! It's the alliteration. What about Fred/Freddie?

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 20/10/2022 11:10

Oh yeah, Tilly and Teddy would be way, way, waaaayy too cutsie.

Tilly and Eddie
Tilly and Seb/astian
Tilly and Lucas
Tilly and Rory
Tilly and Ben/jamin
Tilly and Elliott

Tilly and Ted(dy) does sound like a pair of Guinea pigs or a brand of brightly patterned leggings for toddlers. That doesn’t have to be deal breaker, it’s not like it’s Fred and Rose, and they won’t be referred to as group for most of their lives. Personally I much prefer Henry to Ted/Teddy/Edward/Theodore.

Would Sebastian, Charles, Rupert, Louis, Felix, Finley appeal? As you seem to like fairly popular names, you and DH could separately go though the top 200 names, mark the ones you like and compare to see if there’s any you both liked to add to the list.

Ted/Teddy is adorable but with Tilly it is a bit matchy matchy, what about:

Tilly & Charlie
Tilly & Noah
Tilly & Jack
Tilly & Harry
Tilly & Zac
Tilly & Ethan
Tilly & Dylan
Tilly & Fraser
Tilly & Freddie

Algor1thm · 20/10/2022 11:55

Yes, sorry, I think Tilly and Teddy is too much. Very cutesy and does give Topsy and Tim vibes 😔

Lilacsunflowers · 20/10/2022 13:42

Tilly and Teddy are a pair of bunnies 🐰

NCFT0922 · 20/10/2022 13:44

Tilly & Teddy sounds a bit silly, sorry.

What about Tilly & Charlie

Lilacsunflowers · 20/10/2022 13:48

I'd avoid all -y names for a sibling

nelliebear8 · 20/10/2022 16:38

I actually love just Teddy, it’s fine with Tilly. Edward “Teddy” works too, I also love Theodore “Teddy” but it sounds very long next to Tilly.

sourcreampringle · 20/10/2022 16:39

Tilly and Henry sounds lovely as someone suggested

Maireas · 20/10/2022 16:45

It may not matter to you, but Teddy is very popular. They will be one of many in the school.

GoldenCupidon · 20/10/2022 16:47

Till and Ted's Excellent Adventure

Sorry I wouldn't do that if I were you, apart from the Bill & Ted thing it's just too cutesy. Tilly and Tommy would be nearly as bad.

NCFT0922 · 20/10/2022 16:48

@Maireas this is obviously location dependant. There isn’t 1 Teddy in my Childrens school or nursery. I only know 1 and I have 4 children, 3 of whom do a number of different clubs.

Right. It must be my local area then.
It doesn't matter to some people, anyway, if a name is very popular.

NCFT0922 · 20/10/2022 16:54

@Maireas it definitely depends on the person I agree. The amount of Olivia’s and Oliver’s I know show that.

Yes, very true. As I said, it doesn't matter to some people.

Lilacsunflowers · 20/10/2022 17:06

Statistically there must be tens of thousands Olivias, Olivers and probably Teddies out there, given how many were born during the past 10 years! Even if there isn't one in the same class, they will come across many throughout life.

Maireas · 20/10/2022 17:07

Freddie is a nice name and kind of similar vibe.
Different initial as well.

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/10/2022 18:30

Tilly and Teddy are on the twee side separately, but together it’s an explosion of chintz

If you called him Edward though he could revert to his full name or Ned / Eddie once he passes the age of 3

Henry is also nice

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 20/10/2022 18:35

As much as I love Teddy , it does sound CBB’s with Tilly .

BiscuitLover3678 · 20/10/2022 21:34

A little bit does it matter? I think Tilly sounds a bit like that anyway and that’s ok! Teddy is a lovely name in itself.
