First name ending in S, surname starting ST

Just found out I'm having a boy and struggling with names. Only one we both love so far but it ends in S and our surname starts St.

A similar example to what we are thinking would be the name Rufus Stone (same syllables too).

Does the s sound run too much or are they distinct when you say it? I've said it out loud too many times and need objective opinions!

Hard to say without knowing the actual name but Rufus Stone is fine as it's quite easy for your brain to separate out the two names. I think it might be trickier with a single syllable first name eg Cass Stone.

Just noticed you said it's the same syllables. Lucas Stagg, Marcus Stibb, Francis Stock etc- all fine for me.

Francis

I don't think letters running into each other is a strong enough reason to discount a name if you like it. There are plenty of people in the world with names like James Smith, Thomas Smith etc. Smile

Sounds like I'm overthinking it then. Thanks everyone 🙂

Honestly - I think it depends what it actually is! Rufus Stone is fine. James Starmer would also be fine. Chris Steel is a bit trickier. Say it out loud a few times and see how it feels to say it.

My forename ends with the same consonant as my surname starts with, and it's fine 🤷
