Simple question really, can anyone phonetically write it so I know how to pronounce Peigi?

Thanks!

Pegee

SunnieShine · 14/09/2022 13:21

Peggy.

Captinplanit · 14/09/2022 13:22

It say Pey-gee.

Altho presume it’s a yoonique spelling of Peggy?

ApolloandDaphne · 14/09/2022 13:22

I looked it up and it seems Peig is pronounced sort of like page but with a hard g like in pagan. So maybe like that with an i on the end?

Gingernaut · 14/09/2022 13:22

Pay-ee-zhee?

Being English, it would probably be pronounced Pee-gee

ApolloandDaphne · 14/09/2022 13:22

Peig seems to be an Irish name.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 14/09/2022 13:23

Looks like the irish/gaelic spelling. Peggy

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/09/2022 13:23

It’s the Irish language spelling of the name

MichelleScarn · 14/09/2022 13:24

Unique spelling of paige or Peggy?

MichelleScarn · 14/09/2022 13:24

Paige-y?

wottabargain · 14/09/2022 13:25

Apologies, I did not know that!

CatGrins · 14/09/2022 13:25

Lots if variations here, not sure I'm any the wiser!

It’s the original Irish spelling of the anglicised Peggy

Pootle40 · 14/09/2022 13:26

I know it as the Scottish Gaelic spelling of what is pronounced as Peggy

Lottapianos · 14/09/2022 13:26

Irish name as others have said. Pronounced 'Peggy'. If you're in the UK and considering it as a baby name, please don't! I have an Irish name and most people don't know how to say it - it's understandable but does get tiresome

CatGrins · 14/09/2022 13:28

Just to clarify I'm not naming a baby. This is a person's name that I need to know for work.

If no one is sure how to pronounce it don't name a child with it. Them's the rules

Same, feel very rude now! It's also name of Scottish actress who played young Merida in Brave!

FredrikaPeri · 14/09/2022 14:02

"Payg"

weebarra · 14/09/2022 14:10

Peggy. It's Gaelic.

DramaAlpaca · 14/09/2022 14:12

It's pronounced the same as Peggy. As has been said, it's the Irish language version of Peggy. Peggy, the shorter version, is Peg.

The pronunciation is more nuanced if it's being said by an Irish speaker, but Peggy/Peg is perfectly acceptable in English.
