So my lo is Lucia and I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with my second girl . I’m REALLY struggling with a name I love as much as Lucia .
Can you guys help with any suggestions similar - I Love names that are unique without being too weird . Love girly Spanish and Italian names . Anyway , this is our list please give your thoughts
1 . Reeva - my husbands favourite and front runner for a long time . My only reservation is from telling people seems to be a name you either LOVE or totally HATE and it seems to have the Arriva bus connection to due to sound simalarities
Serena - I Love but my husband doesn’t
Sienna - maybe a bit common here ?
isabella - both love but too common as first name
Arlia - Like but not 100 percent
Blair- I love husband doesn’t

Help is needed I would love your opinions :)

I really love the name Reeva! I think Lillia sounds nice with Lucia

Lkakpk · 30/08/2022 21:28

@seasunshine22 Thankyou I do too ! It’s different without being too out there . I’m surprised it’s not more popular !

Beggingforsleep · 30/08/2022 22:45

My friend has a Lucia and her second DD is called Lola

ChobKnees · 31/08/2022 08:58

I'm a bit baffled as to why you'd want an Italian/Spanish name if you're or going to pronounce the name correctly.

ChobKnees · 31/08/2022 08:58

*not going

Lkakpk · 31/08/2022 10:24

@ChobKnees im a bit baffled why it offends you . Obviously things are hard for you at minute to be so bothered about someone else’s choices . Hope things improve for you hun .. ps my Italian friend pronounces it my way and my daughter was named after her …. Back to your own life ey hun :)

@ChobKnees , Lucia is a latin name and the pronunciation OP wishes is a known and valid one.

Lkakpk · 31/08/2022 11:19

@KirstenBlest baffles me why someone is so bitter to comment on something that doesn’t concern them in that manner ! X

Exactly.

It's like saying why are you giving your child a german name if you can't be bothered to use the german pronunciation. Hmm. Richard?

I'd say Lucia as Loosha, but that's me. Loo-see-a, Lucy-a, Loosha or Lootch-ee-a are all acceptable

Reeva immediately makes me think of poor Reeva Steenkamp, which is not a very happy association for a child...

Me too; the only Reeva I can think of

Beefcurtains79 · 31/08/2022 11:43

To be fair using names from a country you have no connection to is often going to make some people wonder why, or seem a bit odd/pretentious.

Same. It would rule it out for me.

What about Sophia/Sofia?
Or just the classic Sophie - feel like that’s due a revival.

Lkakpk · 31/08/2022 11:47

@Beefcurtains79 it’s really not that deep . You are entitled to name your child whatever you like . No name is owned by a country so this is a bizzare statement to make … anyway back to the thread itself …

Lkakpk · 31/08/2022 11:48

@SalviaOfficinalis I love Sophia but o wouldn’t use it as there is quite a few Sophia’s where I live

@Titsflyingsouth I get this but I don’t really feel that way . For example Madeline is still a popular name as is Holly and Jessica and all have sad connections . I think Reeva seems to affect people more as it’s not as common ?

What statement? Saying some people would wonder why you are using names from a culture and country you have no connection to? Since several people on this thread have already asked this, it’s obviously not a ‘ bizarre statement’ or question at all.
Unless you don’t know what bizarre means.

Lkakpk · 31/08/2022 12:05

@Beefcurtains79 one person has asked … anyway not getting into it with you . Unsure why you even bothered contributing ?! Have a good day :)

@KirstenBlest some people will find ANYTHING to get their back up about … ironically even when it has no bearing on their life 🤣
