Finding it so hard to settle on a name but baby is coming this week! Please rate or suggest alternatives based on our taste.

Here’s the list at the moment - middle name is likely to be Daisy.

Lena
Thea
Joanie
Juliet
Roslyn
Cassia
Josephine

Lena - very pretty. I would probably go for Eleanor or Helena on the birth certificate.
Thea - really like it.
Joanie - not this is a name. Joan or Joni are names. This is a kind of cross between the two? I like Joni.
Juliet - love it.
Roslyn - never come across this but quite like it.
Cassia - like it.
Josephine - like it and think the nickname Josie is really cute.

Alternatives:
Aurora, Bianca, Cassandra, Delilah, Eleanor, Francesca, Geneveive, Hermione, Imogen, Joanna, Katherine, Lydia, Miranda, Natalia, Ophelia, Philippa, Rosalie, Sophia, Talitha, Vanessa, Xanthe

Juliet is lovely!

RoseMartha · 29/08/2022 21:53

Juliet or Josephine or Lena

Justcashnosweets · 29/08/2022 22:10

Juliet is one of my favourite girls names. If I were to have another daughter, this would be the name I would give her

DramaAlpaca · 29/08/2022 22:23

Juliet, Josephine or Roslyn.

Not so keen on the others.

megosaurusrex · 29/08/2022 22:56

Love Lena!

Cats23 · 29/08/2022 23:04

I'm biased...My DD is ' Thea'.
I love the name & have so many compliments- I dont know any others with the name either

Mumofgirls2017 · 30/08/2022 08:27

All nice favourites Juliet and Cassia

LadyEloise1 · 30/08/2022 09:29

Juliet.
It's lovely.
I'm not keen on the others.

WaltzingWaters · 30/08/2022 09:36

Lena - Pronounced Len-a? I like it. I knew a couple lovely Lena’s in Greece.
Thea - not a fan.
Joanie - I like though spelt Joni.
Juliet - beautiful.
Roslyn - hmm, not too keen
Cassia - it’s okay
Josephine - pretty.

Lena, Juliet, or Joni for me.

Eleni? (Eh-len-ee)

Mitzymarvel · 31/08/2022 06:38

Thanks everyone. I guess I really need to think about whether I want something more ‘timeless’ like Josephine or Juliet, or something a bit more popular at the moment, like Thea or Lena.

Someone suggested Bianca, which I really like as a name, but can’t get past the Eastenders thing!

What about Rosalind or Rosamund. Both lovely classical names. Although I suspect she'll get Roz which isn't so lovely.

I love Joanie. I think Joan is deffo coming back

Riverlee · 31/08/2022 07:19

Lena - not keen
Thea - nn for Dorothea?
Joanie - not keen, nn for Joanna?
Juliet - not bad
Roslyn - unusual, quite like it
Cassia - quite like it, Cassandra as alternative suggestion
Josephine - traditional, I think this name will rise in popularity in next few years, but relatively rare now

Riverlee · 31/08/2022 07:21

Names I think are in the same vein as Bianca are
Brooke
Paige
Maria
Clara

Suzy14837 · 31/08/2022 07:28

I'm not keen on Josephine or Joanne (prefer Joan) and think Juliet is a bit boring but I like the others.
That said, I probably wouldn't use Cassia - as Boris Johnson has a daughter with that name; more than enough to put me off!
I have never heard Roslyn before and my first thought was Rosslyn Hill in Hampstead - a bit of a nod to north London roots if you have them.

RebeccaCloud9 · 31/08/2022 07:39

@KirstenBlest how else do you pronounce Juliet?

miltonj · 31/08/2022 07:48

Gotta be joanie

KirstenBlest · 31/08/2022 08:26

@RebeccaCloud9 , you know how you say Harriet or Julia. You don't say Harry- ETTE and Julie-AH do you? And how Janet and Janette don't sound the same - like that.
JOOL-y-et as opposed to Jooly-ETTE

Fivebeanchilli · 31/08/2022 08:36

Lena - not keen. Seems a bit insubstantial and very "now"
Thea - I love this. It's traditional and beautiful. It's pretty trendy at the moment though.
Joanie - I'm not keen. I would go for Joan or Joni (although I don't really like either to be honest but they're better than Joanie as a given name)
Juliet - lovely and this spelling is the best!
Roslyn - I'm not keen on this but I do love Rosalind. Roslyn for some reason reminds me of a guest house!
Cassia - lovely. I would worry that some people might assume it's cash-a instead of cassie-a but hopefully most people would get it right
Josephine - nice enough. I feel as though they'd inevitably become Josie (I don't normally assume shortening but Josephine seems such a big name!) and I don't love Josie.

I would definitely pick Thea but Cassia and Juliet would be close behind.

myverylastnerve · 31/08/2022 12:24

I have a Roslyn Smile
I preferred it to Rosalind as it's softer

Seraphina1993 · 31/08/2022 12:25

LOVE Juliet but would never actually use it as I'd be afraid of the inevitable 'Jules' 😂
