Do the Harrison's you know get called Harry?

Just that really. Expecting DS2 and only name DH is really keen on is Harrison but not Harry so much, which I'm telling him is inevitable. Wondering if you know any Harrison's especially older than 5 years and whether they still get the full name?
Thanks!

Definitely the Harrison I know is a 'Harry'

toastofthetown · 22/08/2022 14:55

I know some Harrison’s who go by Harry and some who go by Harrison. If Harry is a dealbreaker for your DH then I’d avoid the name entirely. Harry is an obvious diminutive, and even though some Harrison’s might not use Harry, there’s no guarantee that your son will be one of them. He’ll grow up and have his own opinions on which diminutives he does and doesn’t like.

1 does
1 doesn't
1 get Haribo

Crocky · 22/08/2022 15:21

I only know one and he is always Harrison.

Crocky · 22/08/2022 15:21

Oh, he is early twenties.

user159 · 22/08/2022 15:23

I know one, he is a year old and is only ever Harrison.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/08/2022 15:24

No, I know 3 and they are all known as Harrison. They are 7 or younger - it may change as they get older.

saltyairandsandyskin · 22/08/2022 15:26

I know of 2. One is Harry, one is Harribo, which is a horrible nickname!!

Blowyourowntrumpet · 22/08/2022 15:27

Harry or Harribo. Both are better than Harrison in my opinion though

Teenprobs · 22/08/2022 15:28

Yes.

Teenprobs · 22/08/2022 15:29

Both Harry and haribo here too!

OnlyaMummy · 22/08/2022 15:32

All the Harrisons I know we're all called Harry x

SomethingWycked · 22/08/2022 15:34

My 26 year old stepson is called Harrison All the family call him Harry & always have done. His friends use either Harry or Hazza.

Heartrate · 22/08/2022 15:37

Whatever you call your child, you don't get to control their knickname.

I know a middleaged Andrew who has been universally known as Teddy since he was 6yo because teacher put his drawing (of a bear) on the wall with his name under it. Sometimes these things stick, sometimes they don't, but you only have control over what you call him. Even then, you might find he asks you to call him something else at some point.

I know quite a lot of Harrisons. Some use the full name, some are Harry and two are H.

mojokoloko · 22/08/2022 15:39

Hazza Mo Bazza, no idea why.

JamMakingWannaBe · 22/08/2022 15:41

Harris is a fairly popular name where I am in Scotland.

Cockerwalk · 22/08/2022 15:42

The only one I know is referred to as Harry.

VacayingInTheHamptons · 22/08/2022 15:42

I know 3, 2 get called Harry and the other Sonny, which is dreadful imo and his mum hates but he likes. I think it’s most likely he’ll be called Harry.

mumofbun · 22/08/2022 15:46

I know one in his 30s who is called either harry or harrison. He didn't seem to mind either way!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 22/08/2022 15:48

No. Adult accountant. Always Harrison.

Mydogfoundthechainsaw · 22/08/2022 15:56
