Ways to honour Michael John

I’m currently pregnant with twins and if I have a DS I am floating around the idea of naming him after my late grandfather who meant to much to me. His name was Michael John and I’m not sure how best to honour it. Me and DP both don’t like the name Michael or John because we feel they are a bit dated and don’t go with our other DC Winnie and Buzz. We both don’t think Micky is usable due to the mouse association and we can’t think of another way to honour him
any help would be appreciated

Is there another version of John that you like? Like Evan or Ivan?
Mitchell? That's a variation of Michael also.

Mikey is sweet

or Johnny, or Jonty

Me and DP have come up with a short list that if we have another DS he will probably be named

Barnaby Michael John
Jack Michael
Mikey John
Milo John

They all sound good 👍

Jean? Johann? Michel? Mikael?

Yika · 21/08/2022 15:11

Michael and John are lovely names, I'd call him exactly that and then MJ for short. Or give both as middle names and then something completely different for his first name, which you feel better matches the others.

MJ? I don’t think the poor kid needs that association.

The only ways to honour someone with the names Michael John is to use the name Michael, or John, or both. You can't honour someone whilst saying their name isn't good enough for you.

Twins. What fun.

Yes, twins appear more frequently on MN than in the general population.

butterflied · 21/08/2022 15:22

Yeah, don't use MJ.

pinklavenders · 21/08/2022 15:23

I agree - Michael and John are lovely underused names. You could shorten to Mick or Micah?

Either use Michael or John or dont bother, thinking you can call the child Ted and it honouring someone called Michael John is just silly if you don't like the names dont use them like you didn't for your first 2 who I am assuming are boys.

This. Either use the perfectly nice names if you like them, don't if you don't.

GlueyMooey · 21/08/2022 15:57

Just honour you GF some other way.

Spanielsarepainless · 21/08/2022 16:04

Tigger
Piglet
Eeyore
Kanga

BimmyTheMouse · 21/08/2022 16:06

How about Simba?

Squashedraddish · 21/08/2022 16:08

Keep with the Disney theme and go for Michael or John and if it’s a girl go for their sister Wendy.

or just go for same initials- Mason Jack or something

Twins though, so surely it has to be Chip & Dale?

Sorry OP. I couldn't resist.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 21/08/2022 16:13

Baloo.

as near to a Disney Balonz as I can manage.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 21/08/2022 16:16

I’m another one thinking if you aren’t using the perfectly lovely names as they are then it ain’t that much of a tribute. Sorry.

This also links with Michael and John because MICHAEL Rapp was one of the Chippendales, and Thomas Chippendale made furniture and some people call a penis a JOHN Thomas.

debwong · 21/08/2022 16:49

To honour one of the names Michael John, but also chime with Baxter, how about Michael Jaxon?

🤣👏

I think OP is definitely having a laugh.
