I think Maeve and Emer/Eimear have the same vibe.

I like Róise too which is a bit more of a 'modern' Irish name. And Siún.

I'm fond of Sadhbh but feel the spelling would be too much of a hassle for a child growing up in the UK.

I have an Erin and i like Maeve for a potential sibling one day so it might also work for you.

Procrastination4 · 21/08/2022 14:27

The Maeve I know has sisters Siobhán and Muireann.

I really like Sadhbh but not the way it looks written down. It’s the middle h that spoils it for me.

I think Grace or Nessa compliment Maeve.

Not ideal for the UK where I guess pronunciation would be tricky for most but I really love Naoise too.

Leona Lewis had a daughter recently that she named Carmel. It did make me smile. I immediately picture a be-permed 1980s Irish mammy when I see that name.

J0y · 21/08/2022 21:34

I know, I have a few friends whose mothers are Carmel. And I'm in my 50s. I suppose it'll come back.

Thanks everyone

I love Ailbhe - just not sure about the spelling in England...otherwise maybe Orla or Aoife!

@mathanxiety If your phone is an iPhone, to get a fada and other accents, hold down the a,e or whichever vowel you want the accent over, and you’ll get a range of accents popping up above the letter to chose from. Then you simply move your finger up to the selection and slide it along until you arrive at the accent you want. Hope that makes sense! If your phone is an android though, I’m not sure if accents are made using the same process.
