I'm not pregnant, asking for a friend as we're discussing names right now and I suggested asking on here. She loves it, her mum thinks it's 'too 80's'...

I like it but the teen Natashas i know are all called Tashie and don't really like it.

I know two Natashas and both are just called Natasha. People don't have to use a shortening or a nickname.

I've always liked Natasha. I like the cross-cultural vibe and it also has more spice compared to the names that are currently popular for girls.

I think it's a little dated, but not hugely so since I don't believe it was ever a top ten name in the past? I could be wrong, but I've met lots of 80s and 90s-born Emmas, Sarahs, Amys, Rebeccas, Rachels etc but very few Natashas.

You could also use it as a nickname for Natalia, as in Russian.

It’s quite 70s/80s like Nathalie, but I don’t think it was ever popular enough to be called dated. it’s alright

FWIW I was born in 1990 and had a Natasha and Lindsay and Clare in my year at school, which sounded very dated (70s/80s) amongst swathes of Ellies and Hannah’s. There was also a Hazel which was an old lady’s name and that has come back in, so I think the first 3 are bound to come back in next. So I think you’re ahead of a trend with Natasha.

I think of Rocky and Bullwinkle, but in all seriousness, Natasha’s a chic, mysterious kind of name. You could call her Sasha for short like the Obamas.

I'm mid 30s and when I was at school there was one Natasha at a fairly large secondary. In the last few years though, I've met so many Natashas in their 30s! So I think it was a lot more popular than I thought at the time. I don't think it sounds dated though as I'm now a teacher and it does crop up fairly regularly...not necessarily in every year group but enough that I don't think it's particularly unusual when I see it.

I don't think it's common now but I can't recall meeting someone with that name ever so it's not one of those super popular names that is really attached to a decade.
