I'm not pregnant, asking for a friend as we're discussing names right now and I suggested asking on here. She loves it, her mum thinks it's 'too 80's'...

I like it but the teen Natashas i know are all called Tashie and don't really like it.

TrashPandas · 09/08/2022 23:07

I know two Natashas and both are just called Natasha. People don't have to use a shortening or a nickname.

ChagSameachDoreen · 09/08/2022 23:12

I really like it!

mogwa · 10/08/2022 11:31

I've always liked Natasha. I like the cross-cultural vibe and it also has more spice compared to the names that are currently popular for girls.

I think it's a little dated, but not hugely so since I don't believe it was ever a top ten name in the past? I could be wrong, but I've met lots of 80s and 90s-born Emmas, Sarahs, Amys, Rebeccas, Rachels etc but very few Natashas.

You could also use it as a nickname for Natalia, as in Russian.

RoseMartha · 10/08/2022 11:32

I like it

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/08/2022 00:34

It’s quite 70s/80s like Nathalie, but I don’t think it was ever popular enough to be called dated. it’s alright

Mittens1717 · 11/08/2022 12:55

Yes it's a bit of an 80s name but that wouldn't put me off, it's very pretty

MassiveSalad22 · 11/08/2022 12:56

I love it! But I just gave my new daughter an 80s name 😄

MassiveSalad22 · 11/08/2022 12:59

FWIW I was born in 1990 and had a Natasha and Lindsay and Clare in my year at school, which sounded very dated (70s/80s) amongst swathes of Ellies and Hannah’s. There was also a Hazel which was an old lady’s name and that has come back in, so I think the first 3 are bound to come back in next. So I think you’re ahead of a trend with Natasha.

Natsku · 11/08/2022 13:13

I like it but I am rather biased as a Natasha Grin And I like the nickname Tash, hate Nat.

bloominglovelyorange · 11/08/2022 13:53

Really great name. I don't remember it being THAT popular in the 80s anyway, I only knew 1 at school and not met any since

danascully96 · 11/08/2022 15:04

I think of Rocky and Bullwinkle, but in all seriousness, Natasha’s a chic, mysterious kind of name. You could call her Sasha for short like the Obamas.

i love it 😍

Chakraleaf · 11/08/2022 15:10

School bully

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 11/08/2022 15:25

I'm mid 30s and when I was at school there was one Natasha at a fairly large secondary. In the last few years though, I've met so many Natashas in their 30s! So I think it was a lot more popular than I thought at the time. I don't think it sounds dated though as I'm now a teacher and it does crop up fairly regularly...not necessarily in every year group but enough that I don't think it's particularly unusual when I see it.

Spanielsarepainless · 11/08/2022 15:48

Nice.

knickersniff · 11/08/2022 16:19

Love it

Crunchymum · 11/08/2022 16:21

I quite like it.

MaggieDragon · 11/08/2022 16:23

Love it- I think of Tolstoy rather than the 80s.

angieloumc · 11/08/2022 16:30

It's very pretty, and love Sasha as a nickname.

midsomermurderess · 11/08/2022 19:28

In Turkey it’s slang for a prostitute, Russian or Eastern European.

geminiflanagan · 11/08/2022 19:39

80s. And I've never known a nice one, sorry. Love Natalie though, was on my list for dd.

Moonshine160 · 11/08/2022 19:47

Went to school with a lot of Natashas in the 90s.

DancingUnderTheLights · 12/08/2022 10:13

I don't think it's common now but I can't recall meeting someone with that name ever so it's not one of those super popular names that is really attached to a decade.

Thatswhyimacat · 12/08/2022 15:32

I always thought the same about Zoe but that seems to be making a comeback!
