If I want a simple boys name

Hi

We have quite an unusual surname and would like a simple, easy to spell/pronounce name for our boy due later this year. We like Jack, Max and Fred for reference - just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions! Surname is one syllable.

Thanks!

I think if surname one syllable, it might sound better to have a first name with more than one syllable (depends on your actual surname obviously). Two one syllable names can potentially by a bit short and abrupt. Ideas -

Robert
Robin
Owen
Matthew
Dominic
Charlie
Thomas
William
Harry
Henry
Ezra
Joseph
Michael
David
Oliver
Elis
Evan

Some brilliant suggestions, thank you! Like George, Harry, Frank, Miles and Rory. Lots of the others are family members so off the table unfortunately.

@pitterypattery00 excellent point you raise - the one syllable names seem to sound better with our surname but definitely open to multi syllable names too - like your list a lot. Middle name is Anthony which is quite long and 'bouncy' so might balance it a bit!

I love Anthony!

I'd use that as a first name - everyone knows how to say it but it's not as overused as some other suggestions (Jack, George etc)

The older I get, the more I like all those old-fashioned jumper-with-elbow-patches names like John, Peter, Robert, Bill, Jonathan - 70s Blue Peter presenter names.
