i dont believe this bull about 'when they start school' what era are we living in??? This is not the seventies or eighties - kids dont bat an eyelid now . odd names and 'the norm'

I know a Plum - no one cares!

flameboy · 22/01/2008 18:10

Its only the narrow minded kids who would take the mick out of someone because they had an unusual name. I wouldn't base any decision on what they might say. I would rather be called treacle than Lucas mucus from the other thread.

PurlyQueen · 22/01/2008 19:25

Plum won't sound ridiculous when the child reaches adulthood - Treacle will.

Blandmum · 22/01/2008 19:28

Flameboy, sorry, but it isn't 'just the narrow minded kids' who will take the piss. They just about all will.

lillee · 22/01/2008 19:33

Plum is really nice not so sure about Treacle though. Friend of a friend called Plum she was born in a hippie colony but she really suits it and apparently never had any problems because of it

Blandmum · 22/01/2008 19:35

am I the only person who has heard 'Plum' used as a euphemism for testicles?

Posey · 22/01/2008 19:38

No you aren't MB, I'm familiar with that use of plum too

I always wonder with that sort of family whether they havn't heard of the concept of nick names. For example my mother called me "kettle" and my sister "beetle" as children, but never considered giving them to us as Christian names...
