I’m 35 weeks, and in need of a middle name or names for Aurora. My partner has two boys, Greyson Taylor Thomas and Noah Rhys Gabriel. DP wants 3 names to match his boys.

Last name is 2 syllables and starts with K.

He likes-
•May
•Belle
•Leigh
•Octavia
•Lily
•Annabelle
•Lillian

I like-
•Leigh
•Rosalie
•Florence
•Lilia
•Harper
•Violet
•Mollie
•Mae

I know that Nova and Noelle are too close to Noah but I'm leaving those on there so you get an idea on the names I like. None of them feel quite right. So any suggestions would be great.

Surely middle names should be ones with family heritage of some kind- say a favourite aunt or grandmother?

I was going to post it, quite honestly, why would you use a MNetter's suggestion?

There must be a familial name that you could use, if you must have one.

We gave up and didn't bother.

We figured that a middle name means absolutely nothing whatsoever.

Unless you are deeply religious, why would you.

No one gets referred to with their middle name .
Ever.

Aurora Dawn - so good they named her twice!

My little girl is called Aurora she's 13 weeks old and her middle names are Grace Joy
Joy was for my Nana who was called Joyce and she died before I was born so I never knew her. Hope you find a lovely middle name for your little girl

Middle names do matter, if only because it makes it less likely to get mistaken identity cases then.

They do get used on all official documents and I sometimes call my children with both names (they are reasonably short).

It's also a way to use a name that you love but wouldn't quite dare to use as first name, or to reference poetry or literature or anything else that has a deep meaning to you.

"family" names are not the be all end all. I wouldn't use my parent's names as it would feel weird and we're not on good termes. My memory of my grand-parents aren't that amazing. I'm not close to any aunts. The only "family" name I considered was my great-grandfather's, but that was because I like the name, not to honour a man I didn't know (and who I'm given to understand was not a great dad to my grandmother, despite his other qualities).

I'm much happier having given my children middle names that have a meaning to me (reference to things I love).

OP, the reference to Aurora Borealis is beautiful, not sure why it'd bother you ? Just don't use Dawn as a middle name !

Since Aurora is fairly long, and also has 2 r's, I'd pick shorter middle names with no r.

I never said that Aurora Borealis bothered me? I did say that I didn't want people to think she's named after a Disney Princess?

I have no family to pick names, neither does DP that's why we're choosing names we like.

We have a last name that isn't super common, so it's not likely that there will be another person with her name in day to day life.

I wanted shorter middle names but DP asked if we can each choose a name, so I can only decide if mine is on the shorter side.

I have chosen Maeve as her middle name because I think it's pretty and I like the meaning "she who rules"

We don't have many family members who would be worthy of naming my child after.

I came on here just to get some ideas, wether it's a new name we've never heard of or a name that we've forgotten. We're not just choosing a name, we're looking into the meaning and origin too.

I'm not overly bothered about a middle name let alone too, but it's important to DP he wants her to have 2 middle names like her brothers do.

I get referred to with my middle name quite often as does my niece.
