In 5 years you will be posting on MN, AIBU to want to slap my dd's teacher for not spelling her name right?

LynetteScavo · 20/01/2008 10:42

Stuff what every body else thinks.

I totaly agree with ruty.

[actually just checked with dh and it should be spelled Liljana so you've got a point MB!] Still a lovely name though.

i am sorry that some of you think lilianna is chavvy [me thinks there must be a lot of chavvy posters[you know takes one to know one] but many thanks to all those of you who are not so narrowminded

I would never think of Liliana as chavvy. On the contrary, I think of quite posh little private school girls when I think of any name ending in 'anna'.

ruty · 20/01/2008 15:04

Well my dh is from the Balkans and I do hope if we chose a name from there it wouldn't be thought of as chavvy. Unfortunately some beautiful Russian/Easter European names have been turned chavvy, Sonja, for example. Great shame.

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 15:09

indeed Angel..if anyhting Liliana will sound posh....

I really don't think of it as chavvy...but then I am german, and I suppose over there it is not the most uncommon name...
