Spelling help

DH and I like Jadon for a boy and I like the idea of him having the original Hebrew/biblical spelling (DH heritage). I also like the Nn Jay, and he would probably be called this most of the time.

However I am worried about it causing issues for him. I dislike the Jayden spelling but know it’s the most well known, also considering ‘Jaden’ as a bit of a compromise.

so I would just appreciate any thoughts on the spelling options? Especially if you chose a name with many spellings, how did you pick one?

Honestly? The spelling you posted is the nicest, but this name in its Jayden form has become the ultimate shorthand for saying a name is common, chavvy, undesirable etc. Now, there's an interesting discussion to be had around whether those views are savoury or charitable, but the bottom line is that it's the association most people will make when they hear the name and it will be your son who has to live with that.

There are lots of lovely old testament names that don't have the same connotations.

I wouldn't choose Jadon if I'm honest. It was very, very popular a few years ago so seems dated now, and has a very 'naughty boy'/chavvy vibe as a result. Sorry, I know that's horrible but it's true. There are loads of cool Old Testament/Hebrew names, you can definitely do better than Jadon! Josiah? Caleb?

I agree with this. It's awkward to say but that's the benefit of asking for opinions on nameboards, right? People can be really honest. Whereas people IRL feel the need to pretend every name is great.
