first girl and last baby; I llke r sounds; have a list of 10 names, most (all!) have gaelic origin, so love irish, welsh, Scottish names.
some have generational connections (I know some may be spelt differently depending on region/country, but the gist of them is there).

muireann
arienne
sadhbh
rianne
caoileann
saoirse
aine
seren
aoibheann
roanaid

I don’t care if they are unpronouceable to others, so feel free to criticise without that issue.
Thanks very much!

apologies, miswrote the last one: roanaid should be raonaid. It's low down on my list anyway so don't know why I am giving it extra attention in pointing that out😁

Seren for me (was on my list but ended up settling with Willow)

sidheandlight · 16/07/2022 06:52

yes I love seren, really love it, but has to be a joint decision and he is not buying the meaning I am selling!!
I love Willow.

I think you've picked some really beautiful names there. I'm not sure if Arienne is Gaelic though it is a beautiful name. I have not heard it as a Gaelic name and a quick Google suggests it is Greek or French. If you like Muireann you may also like Doireann which is pronounced the same but with a D. If you like the meaning behind Seren you may also like the Irish for little star - Réaltín. Good luck with your final choice & your little one.

Saoirse is my favourite. It is beautiful with all classic names from the 1800s.

Saoirse Jane
Saoirse Mary
Saoirse Catherine
Saoirse Bridget

Lalosalamanca · 16/07/2022 11:14

Love seren. But I'm half Irish so couldn't use it for mine but if I was Welsh I would of

ColadhSamh · 16/07/2022 11:22

You forgot the fadas in some. Makes a big difference in pronunciation and meaning.

KirstenBlest · 16/07/2022 12:30

I don't like Seren, Arienne or Rianne.
Wouldn't know how to pronounce most of the others, but would make a guess at
muireann - Maureen
sadhbh - Sive
caoileann - Keeleen
saoirse - Seersha
aine - Onya
aoibheann - Eeveen
raonaid - Reenaid

(Those are anglicised, I'd attempt to say them a bit more irish, as I'm aware that Tadhg doesn't quite sound like Tiger without the r)

HowdyDudey · 16/07/2022 12:48

I love Caoimhe although it doesn’t have the ‘r’ sound.
Saoirse would be my fave out of your list.

CatWithARabbit · 16/07/2022 13:02

Roisin

Goneback2school · 16/07/2022 13:10

What about Eimear?
Would not consider Rianne or Arienne Gaelic names and the only Seren I know is a boy.

midsomermurderess · 16/07/2022 13:26

My far and away favourite is Saoirse. Like inertia as per Saoirse Ronan, or with a more ee sound. I don’t really care.it’s lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 16/07/2022 21:24

All nice names, but as a pp said you need a fada on some to get the correct pronunciation.

My favourite is Sadhbh.

Classica · 16/07/2022 21:38

Raonaid is quite an obscure name and it's mainly associated with a notorious unsolved crime, the brutal murder of a teenage girl in the 90s. So I'm not keen on that one.

Sadhbh is my fave too.

butterfly990 · 16/07/2022 21:56

I love Soiche, sorry I detest Sadhbh reminds me of knives (scythe).

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 16/07/2022 22:02

Doesn't have the R sound but I love Fiadh(pronounced fee-a)

junebirthdaygirl · 16/07/2022 22:29

Grainne is nice...gra means love

TreePoser · 16/07/2022 22:32

Fraoch
.Siún
From your list i like Muireann (Mwirren)

ThorsBedazzler · 16/07/2022 22:35

What about Rowan? I know it's a boy's name but I also know a few weeks girls called Rowan now.

Londonderry34 · 16/07/2022 22:40

Well my middle daughter is a Brighdie (Bridie) as a middle name. Live in England and just didn't think the locals could cope with it - hence middle name. I love it. It's strong and it's Irish and reflects her roots.

mwa · 16/07/2022 22:50

There are so many beautiful girls Gaelic names.

Fiadh (Fee-ah)
Fianna
Síomha (Sheeva)
Éabha (Ava)
Siofra (Sheefra)
Sibeal (Shi-bale)
Croia (Cree-a)
Daimhín (Daw-veen) means little dear.
Seoidín (Sho-deen) means little jewel.

I called my little girl Seoidín 🙂❤
