Strong boy names -SBCU

Hi everyone,

We had our baby boy on Thursday morning and while he was a lovely, (unexpectedly!) chunky 8lbs, he’s had to stay in the Special Baby Care Unit due to issues with his oxygen levels and “sleepiness” and has had quite a few tests done. We were already struggling to think of/agree on names but now that he’s here and having a tough time, I feel like he needs a “strong” name. My favourites throughout pregnancy had been Robin and Teddy and while I still love them, I just don’t think they suit him now.

Wondered if anyone has any suggestions? I hate that he’s in SBCU and only known as “Baby Surname”. It feels so impersonal when all the other babies have their names up on the board.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I absolutely agree with the idea of sticking with the name you love. Unfortunately DH was never keen on Robin (it was one of his favourites for a girl) so I think I’d lost that battle anyway!

We think we’ve now narrowed it down to:
Lachlan
Noah
Benjamin
Ruaridh

@AuraBora @PollyPeeves DH really loves Lachlan but despite being Scottish, I always mispronounce it. I think I might just have to learn to say it properly!

@YorkshireTeaCup thank you so much for your message. We really took that on board and I think it was the right call rather than rushing into a name.

Pleased to say baby got home yesterday and is doing SO well. The staff in SCBU were amazing and it was lovely seeing one of the other babies he was in with make a big step in their own journey as we were leaving ❤

@Junebug22 Lachlan and Lauchlan are both great and strong names I'd go with one of those

I love James, I think it’s strong and classic.
