Incorporating Anne...

I am trying to find a nice girls name that incorporates Anne, which is the middle name of my mum and both my grandmothers. I don't like Anne for either first or middle name, too old for me, but trying to incorporate it into something else!

The only ones I can think of are Annie (not keen), or Annabelle/Annabella.

Any ideas?

My middle name is Anneliese after my grandma, I love it.

Annika and Anya are both forms of Anne.
As are Nancy and Nan.

bridgetreilly · 01/07/2022 11:26

Either use Anne or don’t. It’s meaningless using a different but vaguely similar name that isn’t your relatives name.

Annis / Annas
Annelise / Annalisa
Annabeth

Nancy is a traditional Uk nn for Anna and Nina a Slavic nn for Anna so you could use those too

@bridgetreilly a) think the OP is best placed to decide what’s meaningful for her, and b) Anne (from the Hebrew Hannah) is one of the most universal women’s names, it has many derivations, and it is not unusual to use different versions to carry on a family tradition.

MerryMarigold · 04/07/2022 22:46

I'm not sure it's really worth coming up with entirely new name. I think it's lovely as a middle name, underused, classic - and I'm not really into traditional names. I would use it as a middle name rather than try to incorporate it into something which is a completely different name. What's the point of that?

Thatswhyimacat · 07/07/2022 10:23

I sort of agree with @bridgetreilly . Some of these names maybe, but I wouldn't hear Susannah or Roxanna or Anouk and think oh, what a lovely tribute to grandma Anne.

I agree with this. If you don't like it don't use it.

bridgetreilly · 07/07/2022 13:07

To be clear, my comment is not so much about what is meaningful or not for the OP, but what is meaningful or not for her mother and grandmothers. Will they be touched and honoured by a child being given a different names from theirs? I can’t imagine they would and I know I would not.

Cotherstone · 07/07/2022 13:17

That’s my name and I always feel people expect me to be a lot older and look a lot different than I am!

Personally I LOVE Marianne
