I think we're finally getting close to name choices for our second child, would appreciate thoughts!

Wesley Walker Ward
Carys Elizabeth Ward

(Walker and Elizabeth are family names.)

I like your girl's name a lot, but the boy's name has too much alliteration for me.

I know he wouldn't be using his middle name in most circumstances, though, and Wesley Ward is nice. But the Walker Ward bit sounds almost comical to my ears.

Beamur · 28/06/2022 15:30

Walker Ward sound like Walk Award. It's quite a mouthful. But you probably won't say it aloud very often! Initials of WWW would be unusual..
Carys Elizabeth is a bit tricky too - lots of 'ss' sounds.
I like your names but they feel quite hard work!

DuchessOfSausage · 28/06/2022 16:31

I don't like Wesley or Carys. They sound like the names of 60-yr olds

DuchessOfSausage · 28/06/2022 16:31

I don't like Wesley or Carys. They sound like the names of 60-yr olds

and you sound like like duchess of sausage

toastofthetown · 28/06/2022 18:20

I don't like Wesley or Walker. I'd assume you'd chosen his initials deliberately in honour of the World Wide Web!

Carys is inoffensive, and I like Elizabeth.

SpaceJamtart · 28/06/2022 18:23

Carys Elizabeth is a great name, really ni e

Never heard Wesley aloud is it Wez-ley or Wess-ley
I do also hear the whole name as "wesley walk aboard" or "walk award"

Hazelnuttree · 28/06/2022 18:53

Carys is lovely. Also like Cerys. Not a fan of Wesley - reminds me of methodism...and just don't like the sound of the name generally, or the inevitable nn Wes.

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/06/2022 20:17

Carys Elizabeth is lovely and classical sounding.

I'm sorry though I think your boys name is ugly

lovelilies · 28/06/2022 20:24

Wesley is a ridiculous name and he will have the piss ripped out of him at school

Cherclueless · 28/06/2022 20:25

I met a toddler Wesley the other day!

I don’t like it at all, sorry. Carys is lovely though.

Maireas · 28/06/2022 20:26

I agree with pp, the girl's name is lovely, and flows. I don't like the three Ws for the boy although I do like the name Wesley. Are you Methodists? Not that it matters.

Lalosalamanca · 28/06/2022 20:27

Naming your child Wesley is setting them up for failure in life. On behalf of your unborn child I request you rethink the male name.

Yika · 28/06/2022 20:29

Adore both names in their entirety! From one angle they look quite grand, from another slightly bohemian. Maybe they are both. Yet also classic. Love the alliteration.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/06/2022 20:31

I feel like the initsils WWW might get quite annoying.

Toughtimesagain · 28/06/2022 20:36

W.W.W is a bit much to me and I’ve never been a fan of Wesley. It’s a bit World Wide Web. If I tried to write all three initials my letters would get all jumbled up.

Carys Elizabeth is lovely though. Really elegant without being pretentious.

If Walker is a family name you want to chose, maybe rethink the first name. I love most W names - William, Walter, Wilfred, but three together is overkill to my ear.

EnglishRose1320 · 28/06/2022 20:37

Love your girls name and think it flows really well.

Feel that your boys name has too many W's, so if you are using Walker for family reasons, I probably wouldn't pick a first name beginning with W, what about;

Benedict Walker Ward
Christopher Walker Ward
Louis Walker Ward
Thomas Walker Ward

DogsAndGin · 28/06/2022 20:38

Wesley is awful. Carys is nice

HorribleHerstory · 28/06/2022 20:39

Would you be open to more than one middle name, to keep the family connection? I think PPs are right that Walker Ward doesn’t sound right together, and having it as either first or second name would push it together with your surname. Is there another name you can use to honour that same relative?

so for example using Wesley Walker George Ward.

As you like Carys for a girl, perhaps Cary could be in there.

Cary Walker Wesley Ward for example.

Elijah I think is considered the male equivalent to Elizabeth.

Wesley Elijah Ward

Carys is nice, Elizabeth is nice.

Could also consider diminutives and variations

Carys Eliza
Cerys Elizabeth
Cara Elizabeth
Carys Bethany
Clara Elizabeth
Alice Elizabeth Carys Ward

if you wanted to even up the names but I think your girls name flows better than your boys.

Sallypally0 · 28/06/2022 20:50

Whiskey with water?

Maireas · 28/06/2022 20:54

James Walker Ward
Anthony
Gabriel
Philip

UnityO · 28/06/2022 20:59

The girl's name is lovely.

Don't like the name Wesley at all. The 2 I know get called 'Wez'. I think all 3 names beginning with W is too much as well.

Luredbyapomegranate · 28/06/2022 22:43

HorseInTheHouse · 28/06/2022 15:24

Same

I’m not a massive fan of Wesley, but regardless I don’t think Wesley Ward works, and throwing in another w is Too Too much

AliBaliBears · 28/06/2022 23:06

Wesley would possibly (probably?) be shortened to Wes - and I don't think Wes Ward works at all.
