Robert and John. Pretty plain and boring really.
I have a gggg grandfather and his father called Zerrubbabel. No idea how working class men in Scotland ended up with that name.

That’s an amazing name

It's in the Bible. That's where they would've got it from. But the parents could've chosen Adam or Matthew, couldn't they?!

A generation back, one GG grandfather was from a family that had the most sonorous Biblical names. The boys were (a selection, there were lots) Nehemiah/Ezekiel/Jesse/Jeremiah/Ham/Samson/Naphtali. The girls were all things like Eliza and Jane.

Not chapel and most certainly not teetotal, from what I've heard.

James

About as solid and classic as you can get. One Irish, one Scottish, one with Welsh links and one English.

William and George on my Mum’s side, I don’t know my Dad’s, fairly common, but I did have a great great uncle Absalum who I remember visiting as a child.

I only know one of my great grandfather’s names - William - but my grandfathers were both born before the First World War and were Dennis and Eric; both extremely old fashioned names. Are they old fashioned enough for you?

bridgetreilly · 26/06/2022 00:22

Sidney, William, Thomas, not sure.
