Just wanting to hear thoughts on what first comes to mind when you hear the name Amberley/Amberly? Pronounced like Kimberley.

I really like it and think it’s unique and different and we will most likely have a little redhead as I’m a redhead and partner is blonde/ginger. Just want to hear opinions!

Amber is a lovely name. Use it

Amberley is awful and as a PP said it'll probably up shortened to Amber or Ambs anyway thank goodness

rnsaslkih · 12/06/2022 13:54

Amber or Kimberley. Both nice names.
Not some mishmash that will make life more complicated than it needs to be.

pinklavenders · 12/06/2022 13:56

Amberley sounds nicer than Amber imo.

JengaNonConfirming · 12/06/2022 13:58

I know a 25 year old Amberley. Unlike previous posters I don't think it's a particularly odd name or sounds made up.

motherofawhirlwind · 12/06/2022 13:59

There's actually 2 villages named Amberley.

It's my DD's middle name and I know of one other (Amberleigh). There's a 70's cartoon called The Dreamstone with character of that name which is where we got it from initially. We liked Amber but her full name flowed better with a 3 syllable middle name.

I think of Amberleaf, the tobacco

Justkeeppedaling · 12/06/2022 14:06

Amber is lovely. But if you must, Amberley.

SirChenjins · 12/06/2022 14:07

I don’t like it - it’s too similar to Amber-Lee which is the kind of name you’ll find in the rougher parts of town.

Scirocco · 12/06/2022 14:29

I prefer Amber, it's a lovely name in its own right and could be paired with Leigh as a middle name.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 12/06/2022 14:34

I prefer Amber, Kimberly and Amelie.

Sheenpl · 12/06/2022 14:37

Thanks for everyone’s honesty!

Amber-Leigh ?

SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 12/06/2022 15:12

I went to school with an Amberley; she'd be mid-40s now.

I've never met another one but it does mean it just sounds like a name to me, not made up.

Not wild about it, but it's better than Amber, I'd say!

villamariavintrapp · 12/06/2022 15:13

I like Amber. Amberly makes me think of the whale vomit.

bakewellbride · 12/06/2022 15:16

How about Everleigh instead?

I like Amber. Amberly makes me think of the whale vomit.

Wow, is there a name for whale vomit?!

Bsaunders4231 · 12/06/2022 18:01

It’s actually quite pretty but I think amber on its own is more timeless

ellesbellesxxx · 12/06/2022 18:23

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 12/06/2022 08:34

It’s a village (a very nice one). I know a girl with this name so not unique. I do prefer Amber though.

I was going to say it’s a village too!

RuthW · 12/06/2022 18:24

I know an Amberly

I prefer Amber.

How about Amber and Leigh as a middle name.

SummerLobelia · 12/06/2022 18:27

I am 50 and i went to school with an Amberley. She was tall, and blonde and kind and incredibly good at French.

So I am very positively inclined towards it.

Xmas1Xmas2Xmas3 · 12/06/2022 18:28

Ambergris is whale vomit I think!
Amberley just makes me think of Camberley. Grew up there!

Potatomashed · 12/06/2022 18:28

I like it. I just watched a film about a rodeo star called Amberley on Netflix too!

SpaceJamtart · 12/06/2022 18:31

Isnt there a whisky called Amberley, It makes me remember a big faux rusty decorative sign in a pub

hattie43 · 12/06/2022 18:32

Amberley Castle in West Sussex

soulinablackberrypie · 16/06/2022 20:56

I like Amber more (in fact I really like Amber) but I don't dislike Amberley. I would spell it with the extra E as I think it looks more natural that way somehow. Amberley looks like it comes from a place name or surname, Amberly looks like an adverb!
