How would you rank Susannah, Louisa, Diana, and Eliza?

Also, what do you think of the sibset Juliet, Rose, and Eliza?

Thank you xx

In order from favourite to least favourite
Diana - beautiful, classic but not too popular
Louisa - lovely - always makes me think of Sound of Music
Susannah - I prefer the Susanna spelling, and I like the name, but don't like the diminutives
Eliza - any name starting with the El- sound just sends me off to sleep. It's totally oversaturated as a name category.

All name would be fine as part of that sibset.

1 - Eliza (I have one and I think it is the absolutely most beautiful girl name in the world 🥰)
2- Susannah (I also think this name is very pretty)
3 - Louisa
4 - Diana

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/06/2022 21:48

Diana, the huntress - what more could you want? about to get revived as part of mid century names I am sure

Susannah - underused classic

Louisa - ok, slightly twee like Harriet

Eliza - overused, yet another El name. Go for the full Elizabeth if you do it.

Juliet is nice although I prefer Juliet, Rose is lovely but so overused. Eliza see above. They do go, but I would use Elizabeth as above rather than just the nn.

No: Diana or Eliza
Yes: Susannah or Louisa

Diana is just Princess Diana forever now, IMO.

NessieMcNessface · 06/06/2022 21:58

Eliza (LOVE it but would probably go for Elizabeth and NN Eliza).

Diana
Susannah
Louisa

1= Susannah.... I find it quite elegant
2= Louisa.i have one and love it..

  1. Diana. Despite the Princess connection, its a lovely name
  1. Eliza... I cannot give a logical reason but just dislike it.
Mumofgirls2017 · 06/06/2022 22:19

Eliza!

Susannah - like but prefer Susan. Susie is nice
Louisa - like but L names are everywhere
Diana - like, would 'shorten' to Dinah sound wise
Eliza - not keen, Elizabeth is nice

Juliet and Rose - both pretty but I dislike how some say Julie-ETTE and Rosie is too popular

HenBob · 07/06/2022 09:16

Love your whole list but had to come on to say you put Hamilton in my head now

🎵Angelica.... Elizaaaaa🎶

Tryagain2020 · 07/06/2022 11:30

Diana
Susannah
Louisa (I really like it but dislike Lou)
Eliza (I like it but know several, plus a million El names).

I think Juliet, Rose and Eliza go well together.

WakeWaterWalk · 07/06/2022 11:38

They are all fine names.
I prefer Susannah and Diana simply because I don't hear them so often right now.

Keyboardist · 07/06/2022 11:58

Susannah

RamblingEclectic · 07/06/2022 12:01

I think Susannah, Louisa, and Eliza are all pretty equally lovely. I think the sibset sounds nice.

Diana, especially with the English pronunciation, just a strong no from me. Dee-ana sounds nice, but die-ana? Maybe I was raised around too many nasty people and Diana/Diane's who dealt with some nasty remarks from that (along with the princess remarks and people thinking they must be interested in mythology), but I wouldn't use a name with the die sound.

SallyWD · 07/06/2022 12:05

I really love Susannah! To me it's head and shoulders above the rest. It's underused and classic. Shakespeare's daughter was called Susannah so it's been around a long time.

Hadtocomment · 07/06/2022 16:15

I also like Susannah but it is long and so you have to like any shortenings I think. I quite like louisa but seems quite formal somehow. I prefer Louise but imagine that's out at the moment as too seventies or something. Eliza does seem to be on here a lot so I don't know if it'll be the shortening of its time and it's very Elle trend. I really like Beth and Bethan as other Elizabeth similar or derived names. I do think Diana always shortens to Di which isn't so nice.

danascully96 · 07/06/2022 18:58

@Hadtocomment True! I love the nns Susie, SuSu (or Zuzu), and Suki! Granted, Susie might still seem dated nowadays Grin

I think Susie is nice. I really like Suki. I knew one when I was younger and thought it so cool!

MagicTurtle · 07/06/2022 21:04

In order:
Susannah
Diana
Eliza
Louisa

MojoJojo71 · 07/06/2022 21:15

Susanna (I prefer it without the h)
Louisa (I also really like Eloise)
Eliza, lovely name but really popular at the moment. I prefer Elizabeth especially with Libby as nn
I really don’t like Diana

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/06/2022 01:45
  1. Susanna(h) - very pretty and I also prefer it without the H (it was good enough for Shakespeare Grin). Like that it has a plethora of nn's - my faves are Suki, Anya and Sansa
  2. Diana - so strong yet very elegant, would be 1, but I hate nn "Die"
  3. Louisa - nicely vintage/retro feel but again I think the "Loo" nn sounds horrible
  4. Eliza - too trendy now and bit of a harsh sound in the "lie". I think classic Elizabeth is the nicest or Elspeth, Elsa etc if you want less popular
MoiraQueen · 08/06/2022 02:25

Susannah, although I also prefer it without the h, my aunt was a Susannah, but known to the family as Nina, not sure if that is a usual shortening. Not keen on the other names, but a pp mentions Elspeth which I love.

mathanxiety · 08/06/2022 02:42

In order:
Susannah
Louisa

Eliza
Diana

I prefer Susannah or Louisa as part of the sibset.

HonorHiding · 08/06/2022 11:47

I love, and would use, any of Susanna, Louisa, Eliza. Lovely choices.

Diana is not for me - lovely in theory, but too much baggage after the Princess.

Ewisa · 08/06/2022 12:29

Eliza is my favorite, then Susanna, Diana and Louisa

Squashedraddish · 08/06/2022 14:24

I think with Juliet and rose, Eliza or Louisa sound best. Really beautiful sibset names
