Have politicians ruined the name Dominic?

My DH really likes the name Dominic it's his front runner but I feel like the association with the politicians is too strong nowadays to use it without people pulling a face.
Thoughts?
Does anyone have a young Dominic? I actually only know of adult ones.
Thanks!

Dominic Raab is in the top ten odds wise to be the next leader but still unlikely. They have made me dislike the name and associate it with Tories but sure that would pass.

No, it’s been around for hundreds of years.

Any association there is will be forgotten before he starts school.

the first politician who occurred to me was Dominic Grieve who is a good Dominic!

Yes, me too. I thought of Cummings, Grieve and didn't remember Raab at all.

I know a four year old Dominic and have never thought about politicians when I think of his name. Around Christmas time, he does get the Dominic the donkey song mentioned a fair bit!

This is true. Cummings will be a thing of the past once Boris is gone and Raab won't ever be a household name.

It’s a great name, I like it and the name Drew but our surname starts with a D. Random but I always imagine a Dominic as having a brother called Benedict!

I knew two brothers called Dominic and Benedict.

I love the name Dominic. I wouldn't associate it with their namesake politicians.

I have an adult Dominic. I don't think he gets any bother from people about the politicians, but then again he's 6' 5" so he doesn't get teased much about anything.

And funnily enough, we nearly called him Benedict!

I think it's fine.

Plenty of baby Jacobs knocking around, despite Rees-Mogg.

I wouldn't go for something more unusual like Boris or Keir, but Dominic is pretty mainstream.
